this is my new furbaby!

lost my June to kidney failure a month or so ago. found a new baby to rescue at the animal shelter. name given at shelter is Sweetie Pie... thinking she's Sweetie "Pi" since i'm a bit of a math geek. only about 12 weeks old, about 3 lbs, tortoise shell. shelter does spaying and chipping before adopting out pets. she'll get her rabies shot FREE when shelter does their next "clinic" in about 3 weeks. adoptions to county residents, military and senior are FREE! that collar, even at smallest, is too big. she is very interested in that "fidget spinner" thing.

Comments (15)So sorry this happened, I know what your vet bill was because I had a similar experience with my Dusty. A pop up timer from a leg of lamb fell on the floor while carving, and he was of course right there and swallowed it. I saw it happen and grabbed him and tried to get it out of his mouth but I just missed him. Ended up having surgery to get it out of his stomach because it was too big to pass. Comments (67)Connie, McDuff will be gone a year on November 8th. And we will never be the same. It's okay to cry. I'm still crying. I don't think I will ever get over this guy. It's okay. He was my only connection with this new place. As each day goes by, it will get easier for you. It really will. believe me. I'm attaching a poem I wrote for McDuff. And I'm lucky enough to have a place where I can collect money, in McDuff's name for the North Fork Animal Welfare League. So, I think it would help you, if you just wrote down your feelings for your beautiful little doxie. Here's the poem: Our Sweet, Sweet McDuff I moved to Long IslandâÂÂs North Fork, A place very new to me I felt alone here, and different from the way I used to be. Then I got you, Sweet McDuff, at 6 weeks of age, I proudly strutted you through Greenport, And oh, my love, you were all the rage. Your huge Saint Bernard paws and your very, very beautiful face, Introduced me to people in this unknown place. I adored you from 6 weeks to 7 years old, And, of all the hearts I know, yours was a true, a very true gold. People giggled and were awed at your big, gorgeous, 180lb self, You were magnificent, my boy, in all your glorious stealth. I met people I never knew, Now they are a part of my life, all because of you. Although you were never asked to guard our front door, You did, my gentle giant, and made our B&B guests feel safe and secure. What a lucky girl your sister, Daisy was, To have one so noble for her to love. The respect and adoration you had for each other, was just so awesome to watch and made us all wonder How you loved each other and us so much, Were you gift a gift from God, precious McDuff? Comments (26)Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes. Panda continues to settle in and explore her new home, and giant kitty has been super good with her. MIL came over to meet her today. She's got quite a personality already and we see more of it every day. We're working on changing her over from dry to wet food. It does just seem like it's meant to be that we got her since so many people have tried for us to get another cat or kitten. Really, we just weren't ready for a long time after losing our last one. 8 years agoI have had a lot of Torties in my life and loved them all. Special little cats. You CAN change her name if you don't like it. It takes a few days till they learn a new one. My rescued Maine Coon I found in the alley had no name but when I called him Bernie, he came in a few days. The only tortie I have left is 17 year old Annie. Her tortie mother was 20 when she died a few years ago and was one of the best cats I ever had. Good luck with yours.
