I Have a New Furbaby. . . Meet Sasha!

This was a wonderful Christmas surprise for us. The other day our Tibetan Spaniel, Chloe's, breeder got in touch with me to see if we were interested in adopting one of her dogs. Free{{gwi:807}}, if we were a good fit with this adorable little 3 year old. Champion blood lines, but no longer able to breed. She's had two litters, but our breeder (one of the tops in the country) doesn't believe in much more than two litters. Anyhoo, she is a perfect fit for our family{{gwi:807}} and came home with us to her new forever home this afternoon. Chloe and Ronin have taken to her already. We'll have her spayed (part of our adoption agreement) after the holidays. Sasha is a little cuddle bug and very affectionate. We love her already. Meet our early Christmas gift, Sasha , on the right.

Thanks again all. I think she may associate hands with the gloves they used to pick her up with. They showed them to me and they were pretty scary looking to me let alone poor Sasha. C3D: I stopped at Petco after I got off work last night and bought a spray bottle of Comfort Zone. OMG. It works too good!!! I only used two sprays and sprayed my hands hoping it would help. She was sniffing the air like a bunny rabbit. Then she started yawning, and yawning, and yawning........after about ten yawns she curled up and went to sleep. I couldn't get her to play after that. Maybe I should have only used one spray. I sat with her for 1/2 hour singing Jingle Bells while she slept. She seems to calm down when I sing to her. Then I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. I jumped and she woke up. There was a spider crawling up the wall about a foot away from my head. I had the kitty toy laser pointer with me and pointed to the spider with it. Forget our lessons. She was climbing the wall trying to get the spider. She crawled across my lap, but as soon as I moved my hand slightly she ran behind the toilet again. I left her with the spider and told her it better be gone when I returned (I hate spiders). It was gone when I went back. That toy kitty glove is a great idea. I will pick one up when I go shopping this weekend. My original plan was to have her stay in my bedroom, but I thought we could be more up close and personal in a smaller area so I housed her in the bathroom. Since the bathroom is off my bedroom I had planned on giving her the bedroom and bathroom for a while. Then hopefully the rest of the house at a later date. I have a kitty condo in front of the window in my bedroom that will be a change of pace for her. Of course it will be off limits then to Willow, McLovin and Boa. But they can have the sunroom. I just don't want to make the mistake of giving her too much room too soon and undoing the progress we have made over the last two weeks. Jenny

Pawsitive - Jamie didn't have any paperwork on Dexter except, thankfully, his last vet visit a couple of months ago, showing he is up to date on all his vaccinations. Thank goodness! Thank you, everyone, for your kind words! Jamie lived in CA (we live in OR) so we didn't see him much. However, whenever he visited, he drove up so that he could bring Dexter. Jamie had a girlfriend who asked if she could have Dexter for awhile after Jamie's death. As much as we wanted Dexter, we knew she might want him permanently. However, after a month she said she knew he needed to be with us, that Jamie had told her many times that he wanted Dexter near all his family in OR if something happened to him. Dexter was Jamie's child. He was well loved. We just feel so blessed to have Dexter in our lives. Caroline - My daughter, Rachel, and I have always loved pictures of Harry. Every time she'd see a picture of him, she wanted a dog. Now she has one! Sheryl

Those pix are too cute! Our "Sammy" named Callie, is a very good Girl! She LOVES pasta noodles as a treat. Just ONCE though, couple yrs ago???, she JUMPED onto the counter!!! My DW was so stunned that all she could do was laugh! Sammies can be pretty powerful for their medium size....but...uffda! That's quite a leap! If Callie shifts into "4WD"-mode, I think she could work as a tow-truck....;-) She only weighs 50lbs! Here's Callie, in Sept., on my B-day! Thank you. Our Doberman, Ronin, is a rescue dog. We absolutely do not have to have purebreds, though. Chloe's breeder was a personal friend of our family long before we got her. What attracted us to Tibbies is that, through our friend,we came to know how wonderfully and how humanely they were raised and bred. But sweet little Sasha just kind of fell into our laps and lives the other day. She needed a forever home where she could just be a furkid. Part of a family and loved for the sweet little girl she is. Her show days are over and her forever family life has started today with us. DD and I took "the girls" out shopping this afternoon at PetsMart. What fun! New collars. New tags. New bowls. Lots of cuddles. Did I mention how much we love our furkids?

What a sweetie pie! Glad your breeder is conscientious about not over breeding.

I got DH a new furkid for Christmas-a little orange polydactyl bundle of mischief. He's over the moon in love with his new kitty. Our local Saturday Market has a Holiday Market and they have pet adoptions available-I've gotten two of my other cats from them and now this little guy has come to join our family. We've been trying to come up with a name for him for a week, we've finally settled on McNuckets. I'll try to get a photo of him-he's a little ham.

Congratulations! Shasa is adorable. I read this as my two youngest, Riley and Rooney are racing through the house like mad men. I think we need the dog equivalent of Elf on the Shelf. I know that your fur babies are calm and well-behaved!

Sasha is beautiful, Lynn! I just saw Pesky's new kitty, and now another new furbaby addition to your family! Such great adoption stories too! I know you must be thrilled to have Sasha come into your home and fit in so well.

Thanks for all the kind words. Sasha is doing wonderfully and has already captured all of our hearts. She is a very mellow, calm and sweet-natured little girl. Her breeder, my friend, called me last night to see if we were going to keep her, as another person wanted her. YES we want her! THIS is her forever home! She follows me around like a little lamb and is always ready to cuddle. DD, DH and I are making sure, though, that Chloe and Ronin are getting equal cuddle time so as not to fan the jealousy flames. Here's a pic DD took of Sasha and Chloe last night. One on each sofa in our living room just relaxing and enjoying. Thanks again for welcoming our new little fur kid. As I said, her show days are over and now is the start of her life as a beloved member of a family. Our family.
