Discovered this poor baby struggling to open it's second wing. 8 hours later at dusk it was still struggling. Next morning it was nowhere to be found.

We went for a boat ride Friday. Lots of docks on their side or even upside down from the high water two weeks ago. Our yard still stinks.

Old snag on our property. Another couple of years and what is left of it will be returned to the forest floor from which it sprang.

Lgmd your butterfly reminds me of what my DD told me today. DGD found a monarch on the sidewalk that a bird had tried to eat or whatever. It had a broken wing and they thought it was dead. They brought it in the house and it was still alive. They know it won't live. I don't know what they are doing with it now.
