That must be one powerful burner. ;) Keep in mind that if you are seeing lots of yellow in the flame, especially when set on medium to medium-low, then the air supply feed to the burner needs to be adjusted until all you see is blue flame. All gas burners air/gas feeds are adjustable and even new ones may need fine-tuning but the method varies from stove to stove. Check your stove manual. Otherwise you know can always let the Mirro weight rock more than the 3-4 times a minute Mirro claims it has to rock. That is safe processing and the only concern would be running out of water in the canner before the time expired. Just make sure to put extra water before starting. When I use my Mirro I just let it do a slow steady rock just like the Presto. And doing that - letting it rock more - gives you better quality too as you don't get the siphoning of liquid that results from adjusting the heat source to try to "peg" the rocking. The comment regarding the laminate with a veneer over top is fairly accurate. The word veneer should not be used rather a hardwood layer. The unique core gives it a greener and much more stability than most others. Epic also has the new scuff resistant technology which actually places the aluminum oxide layer on top of the finish which makes it many times tougher to scratch or rough up the surface. Relax everyone. Take a deep breath. It doesn't need to be done in a day. The best rooms and houses evolve over time and are a continuing journey. Only on HGTV does everything have to be done before you move in. The best thing is to find something with color you love. For me in both my condo I just sold and in the house I'm hoping to build (don't ask!), I chose my busy granite first and everything in terms of color will work from that. It may be a wallpaper you love, a fabric, a vase with the colors you love, a rug, a favorite chair, or even a painting. Then just choose pieces you LOVE. If you choose what you love, it will all work together.

I've had a modular built for me before. I agree with whoever said upthread that the finish company (for lack of a better term) is probably the most important part of the equation. However a very close second is the quality of the manufacturing company who is building the boxes. Some companies are basically building glorified trailers (with very poorly installed drywall and builder basic, scarily-cheap kitchen cabinets, etc.), whereas other companies produce much better quality. The older I get, the less stock I put in online reviews. I could write a book as to why. However the gist of it is that no matter what you found online, it can't (in my opinion) take the place of you going to view some of their completed work and talking to prior customers. So if you're debating building a modular, talk to the GC who will handle the site and finish work. Ask to see some finished homes. Ask WHY they use the company they use, ask about quality control and what happens if the boxes come and you or they discover serious flaws. Get the name of the manufacturing company and google that, because I promise you that online reviews do exist for those companies. Good luck. My first home was a modular, and honestly it was an adorable cape cod with reasonable quality finishes. I still miss that home and would have packed it up and taken it with me if I could. :)
