Need Deer Proof Perennial for Under Bleeding Heart

suzanne (Pa. 6a)

I have two huge Bleeding Hearts (pink) right at my front porch. After the leaves turn yellow, I cut them back, but that leaves about four feet of empty space. I have read other suggestions of ferns and hostas to plant underneath the bleeding heart , but the deer will devour those in a day or two. Any ideas of what to plant that wouldn’t mind being in the bleeding hearts’ shadows in the spring yet would not be a temptation for the neighborhood deer herd? Thanks.
