Help Needed: Trying to Revive Deadheaded Echeveria

At the very end of May, I deadheaded my echeveria as it had grown very etiolated indoors over winter. Unfortunately, the stem succumbed to a mealybug infection, the leaves have produced only roots, and the deadheaded rosette is on its last legs.

At first, I tried to root the deadheaded rosette in water. Even though I let it callous over for more than a week, it began to show signs of a fungal infection. I cut off the tip to stop the infection and then planted it in a shallow dish, with succulent specific potting mix, with my other propagating succulents but I think I may have been too late. A month later, the rosette has dried up considerably even though it has start to grow roots.

Do any of the experienced folks here know if its possible for the rosette to pull through? I'm already pretty upset about losing the stem and would hate to have wiped my echeveria out completely.
