I had to put my order in yesterday and the sales person suggested I stick w/Rohl 8" because I have a relatively small shower area about 32X43 and the polished nickel would be an exact match. I also went w/6" rod of ceiling mount because the rain head is about 6" and I lose an inch or two on the floor. With 8 feet ceilings, that's about 1.2 feet lost already. I am looking forward to hearing how your rain head works.

If you are often cold when you take a shower or have a drafty bathroom then body sprays can help make sure you stay warm. They are designed to surround you with water which is very pleasant. I suppose worth it could also mean do they add value to your home. Well a shower system in the master bath have been shown to increase home value. Control moisture: 1) Consider a topical or surface-applied membrane behind the tile. It'll eliminate the deep wetting into the walls and floors of your shower. With one, the only thing that can get wet is the tile, grout and thinset. 2) Have a proper vent with proper duct for that vent. Put vent on a timer so it runs a specified length after the shower light is turned off. That'll promote drying. 3) Miminize water held by the walls and floor: Have a properly sloped floor. No lippage between tiles that can dam water. No raked out grout joins that can hold water. Tile: Porcelain would be your better bet. Anything on the walls, but on the floor you do need to provide some traction to prevent slips. You can either go with large tiles using tiles with a high wet CoF. Or you can use slicker tiles but in smaller sizes so the grout lines will provide traction. Grout: Most cement-based grouts have microbial protection. But there are non-porous all-in-one grouts that are urethane or epoxy. They behave differently than cement-based grouts regarding installation and clean-up. Or you can use a cement-based grout, if it does get gnarly, you can coat it with an epoxy-based grout colorant some time down the road. Aqua-Mix Grout colorant is one. There are others as well.

Agree with what Mizlizzie wrote. I try to keep the bottom of the rainhead a minimum of 7' above the tiled floor. You can mix drop arms. Most are universal 1/2" thread. Generic finishes like Chrome are pretty much universal, you can mix and match from most any manufacturer. If you have a designer-type finish then sure, it makes sense to stay with within one manufacturer's product line.
