I never had any of the common hybrids make more than 2 spikes at a time. If you leave the old spikes, that's different. My impression from the OP was, how many spikes would form at one time? I'm not counting old spikes. I don't think the OP was asking about species. Jane

Hey, it happens. No need to strip off new paint. It's not a big deal if you're in the "its' just paint" camp. I actually detest that lil tidbit of *color wisdom* - because it's not just paint. It's effort, time, money and not-just-a-stroll-in-the-park labor. But in the right context "it's just paint" is not a completely stupid pov. Like in your case. The dark green really is just one coat. Don't look at it as a color misstep. Instead, it's an undercoat. One more layer in the process of wickedly proper prep that's all going to add up to a beautiful final finish that will last for years and years.

Ginny, I could never get a straight answer either, whenever I asked this question. I can tell you what I have learned from experience, and hope it helps you. First let me say that I would DEFINITELY buy another card or two, perhaps one with more storage, such as 1 gigabyte, that way you will feel comfortable knowing that you have many more pictures yet to take. Secondly, my camera lets me know how many pictures I have taken and how many I have left to take, and this number changes since some pictures will take less space than others. Next, I would recommend taking pictures on a higher resolution so that you can enlarge them later if desired without losing detail in the photo. If you are taking a picture of something that you know you will not make an enlargement out of, you can set your camera to a lower megapixel setting to save space on the card. Personally, I leave mine set at 5 megapixels, that way I am always ready to take a picture that I might want to enlarge. I set my camera to take photos at about 5 megapixels. On a 512 card, I can get(on average), about 230 pictures. At 2.3 or 1.3 megapixels, you will be able to get many more pictures, possibly 2 or three times more, but there is NO exact way of determining exactly how many. The reason for this is that some pictures, even if they are set at the same resolution level, will take up less space than others. For example, my camera showed that I had room for only 9 more photos. I took almost forty before it actually ran out of space, probably since I was taking pictures at night, of the moon. Nitsua, LOL! Yes, each time I saw this thread title that's what I thought, like one of those carnival games of counting how many gumballs were in the jar to win a prize. I didn't think to calculate either until Deeby asked for a formula to convert her pot size to gallons which is sort of the same thing. Deeby For a 20" top diameter pot, if you don't want to measure the height, bottom diameter and top diameter and get the exact gallons in the convenient online calculator, an estimate is that you have a sort of #20 or #25 pot, the height coming way up your thigh is quite tall. Most 20 inch pots are around 20 gallons, but the formula gives around 27 gallons since I guessed your "half way thigh high" is about 25 inches tall, but that was hard to work with since you could be wearing shoes, measuring the outer lip, or it could be sitting on a saucer, etc. Because pots have different slants from top to bottom, it isn't enough just to measure the top diameter. Yours sounds closest to the #25 tall here which is shorter but a little wider so around 25 gallons sounds reasonable. You can compare it to commercial pot sizes at nursery pots also to get a really good idea of the gallons: Nursery Pot Commercial Sizes The other way to do it is to see if the company/product number is on the bottom of the pot and see if their website has it listed in gallons too.
