Which shower material would be easiest to keep clean???
Comments (22)"So porcelain slabs?" I think so. "How's it different from Neolith or Dekton?" They aren't designed to be lightweight. These are designed for vertical applications. "So is it an issue if the walls aren't totally straight?" That's the great thing about solid panel walls as opposed to tile with grout. The walls are easily shimmed to flat, plumb, and square before the panels are installed....See MoreGranite Backsplash
Comments (12)Again it has a lot to do with taste. In the kitchen you posted not only do you have the same stone on the counter and bs, you have similar tile on the floor, hickory cabinets - the whole thing looks like Stonehenge meets Nashville. I've seen slab granite done tastefully on a larger scale, but it always looks a little ridiculous to me in a smaller space. i agree with treb that finding a bs tile can be difficult, and this approach is certainly easier, but it reminds me a little of DIY bathrooms where the same tile was used on the floor and walls. You can do this and have it look much nicer, than the image below, but it's still like getting stuck with the purple crayon and using it for the sky and the water and the grass. It's a missed opportunity. This post was edited by EAM44 on Sun, May 11, 14 at 12:02...See MoreSolid Surface Subway Tile
Comments (16)I have that white tiled look wall from Swanstone. I can tell you that it is not swanstone - it is called swan tile and is just a typical glue up type of system. It is not flimsy at all. And it has been very durable for the last 10 years. I am just staring to see some slight crazing in the finish though. And I can tell you it is as much a pain in the a#$ to clean as subway tile is. The soap gets caught in all the grooves that look like grout lines. I won't do again. The next shower for me is is a flat surface of Swanstone or Corian or porcelosa or deckton or arquitex... one of those full SMOOTH sheets......See MoreBathroom/shower wall surfaces
Comments (4)I have a solid surface shower, a subway tiled bath shower combo and a LFT thin grout tiled shower. They are equally easy to maintain because we squeegee all wet surfaces after showering so this few seconds saves us weekly deep cleaning time and labor. Without squeegeeing the solid surface looked spotty and the tile grout would need more weekly maintaince to avoid molding but with daily drying I only have to spray with disinfectant once per week before entering for a shower, rinse while showing with hand held, and squeegee dry after and after years of this practice I have zero signs of mold or dark grout....See MoreRita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real
