Growing Tomatoes

Can't get rid of leaf spot ever.........

I have bought my tomato seedlings from the same nursery for many years, and my leaf spot never goes away. I do rotate the tomatoes so they never grow where a tomato has grown last year. I'm wondering.....is it possible that some nurseries sell more seedlings that are already infected with the leaf spot?

Fungal spores are largely airborne. If an infected bed is nearby, they'll get there. Use a fungicide as a protectant. The fungicide won't kill the fungus once it is established on the plant, but can prevent it from getting established in the first place. I don't think there is any way for residential users to disinfect their soil. You're stuck with it.

As discussed in the post about the same question just a bit further down the page entitled How to get rid of septoria leaf spot for good? you can't.

As Dan said the spores are in the air. Has little to do with where you bought your plants. It is the most common tomato plant disease worlwide so as often discussed here all you can do is try to prevent it by applying fungicides from Day 1 in the garden.

Pamela Leaf spot is a fungus that you can spray for. I'm sorry that I can't remember what to use right now (that is natural or organic). It is mainly a cosmetic problem only on the leaves, although we do see some spots on berries that are also cosmetic. I believe if you spray early in the season and after harvest you can cut down on the problem. I'm sorry that I can't remember the spray. Jake

An acid (like vinegar) will dissolve the deposits. I would use straight vinegar since it has never harmed any of my plants, and will still require several applications to remove heavy deposits. Diluting the vinegar will just make the process that much longer. It would be best to wait until the plant is dry before doing this so that you can thoroughly water it afterwards in order to flush away any excess vinegar that may be on the foliage and soil. Also, I would stop misting the plants. Misting only momentarily increases humidity, and the water left on the foliage can cause fungal growth and the hard water deposits you are seeing. -Chris

Mice and rats have not lived on earth for much longer the we have without knowing how to survive in some very hostile conditions. Traps are quite passive and require the animal to initiate contact. If the baited traps are not attracting the animal then it is finding food in easier to obtain places, or maybe does not like the selection offered. Mice and rats are omnivores and eat anything, so that you are finding droppings tells you that animal is finding ample food, somewhere. Time and patience are needed.

Haven't read all the responses, so this may have been mentioned: I have washed some really rank (phew!) workout clothes that were left in a locker room for weeks. I tried various things, and this is what worked best, taking the stench completely out: I poured detergent (either Wisk or Tide Sport Febreze HE) directly onto the areas that smelled worst - usually, the underarms. I washed the clothes inside out. I used the hottest water the fabric could stand. (Sometimes it's worth a shot to use hot water even when you're not 'supposed' to, if you'll have to throw the clothes out otherwise.) I poured in 1/4 c. baking soda. After the wash cycle was underway, I paused the washer to let the laundry soak. Sometimes an hour or two is enough. At times I've soaked it all night and finished the cycle the next morning.

In order to daignose a problem, we must see what kind of leaf spots are present.

Some of the above guesses may be on target, but we'll not know for certain without images.
