I would stain the flooring, paint can peel and be a bother. For me, I'd stain it dark but that's a personal call. Painting a bright green when the rest of the colors are muted may be too much pop. How about a light green that is in the historical colors so it's muted a bit. I love apple green but muted a tiny bit.

We have a small front porch (uncovered, large stoop area) that will be renovated asap. The architect suggested Renaissance stone pillars on the corners of the porch with an electrical conduit installed in the center of these pillars for lighting on top. We think this is a great idea. He suggested Renaissance stone and the GC said it was not available but that we could use limestone instead. I am hoping for a bright white color on the stone. Can anyone tell me anything about... the use of stone in this kind of project? the craftmanship required, the quality of stone, the pitfalls in construction? I'd love to attach a photo to my question, can someone also tell me how to do that? thank you in advance

Hi lazy-g, I miss the tree too! (But not the little crab apples.) We had about 18 years of beautiful blossoms, then a few years of diminishing blooms and finally a year of nothing (no leaves or blooms), so it had to go. At least the front room is nice and sunny now, and there's a small hydrangea tree now planted near there. The hydrangea will never be the same as the previous tree, but I'm hoping to sell in a couple of years so maybe the next family will plant another big blossoming tree.
