Playing catch up...whew - new blooms and seedlings (pics - lots)
Comments (18)Hi All, Thanks for all the kind comments... Seedling 003 keeps changing its eyezone... all of them being very cool! First year to bloom, so I need to keep an eye on it over the next year. Seems like the hot weather made the eyezone more intense. Mike - I don't know how you make it! I was going out every day in MARCH... thinking, it is spring already... bloom dang you! :o) I bet they are building up their strength to put on a real show for you. Jacqueline - That Going Bananas is a monster bloomer. If you can ever get your hands on some, you should. Each clump has 10 scapes up at a time. 17 blooms today on three small clumps. Beautiful form, and the picture does not do the yellow color justice - is it super bright and clear. Stands out from the crowd! Missy - Little Blue Belle is right... sorry. Lrae, I took a chance on Earlene Garber... wasn't exactly sure how it would turn out... I could really only find one picture of it, but mine turned out just like the picture. The pink is kind of irridecent in real life, making the color really beautiful. Thanks Barb... been running around like mad in the mornings! Pictures, pollinating, collecting pollen...whew! Had a really nice weekend away in California - but glad to be back with my DL! :o) Barb... hmmm.... have to think of something! Weaknesses - wine, food (especially baked goods), daylilies! Glad you like seedling 003. Can't wait 'till it multiplies and makes a clump!...See Moremore catch-ups!
Comments (11)Jan, I woud be hard put to pick a fav. this is a ffo on BR and I am pleased after waiting 2 years for it to get mature enough to bloom. I have lots more but sometimes I forget what I've posted. LOL!!! Lrae, I am glad you enjoyed the pix and you're welcome. Chris, OB didn't look that good last year but has shaped up some. GT is beautiful and I am not that fond of yellow! Debra, I just bought Golliwog last fall and I really like the bloom. I don't know what kind of increase she will have though. TR is a beauty but the voles got most of her this year. At least there was enought left to bloom.. bailycat, BR was pencil size when I got him and there is still no increase and he is just barely mature enough to bloom. he's gonna be a beauty though. DBD is one I have had since she was a new release. She has wonderful soft colors and is still eyecatching.. Michelle, SLP opened perfect the first time. She is a hardy one.. Julie, I will have to look up SK and see what it looks like..AS is really a pretty one of Munsons. Now don't get mad ya'll but I don't like all of his releases. owever the ones I like, I love.. Amber Sunset is one of the loves. okbt, Im glad you like them... Tom, you might have a coronary if you eat her but I just look at her. Hehehe!! I do so love the oddballs like Golliwog And DML. That was DML first bloom here! Jill, That's a ffo on GNO so I will have to post another when she get settled. I got OB from Chris year before last.. I'm glad you liked them , especially AS. Thank you all for your comments...Ellie...See MoreSome more onSaturday--still catching up
Comments (10)English Lavender is a beautiful daylily and has a good bud count, but it has been a slow increaser and I worried that I'd lost it after its first winter. It is a club plant so I'll be turning it in for auction at our club in August. I got in 2009 and it's now only 5 fans. It may well do better somewhere hotter, but I don't know. Enchanting Esmeralda is a fabulous plant. In addition to being gorgeous it has increased well and has a high bud count. Mildred Mitchell can have some amazing flowers, but it too has been a slow increaser--adds about 1 fan a year and a bud count of 9. Mantis--Elisa Dallas is short . It also has only increased by one fan in 2 years and has a bud count of 8. I'm really disappointed in it. Trimmer daylilies usually do much better than that for me Jean--I'm a big fan of Light Motif. Love the look and the performance has been good too....See MoreMore catch up photos
Comments (7)Mantis-- glad you found the comments helpful. Avedon, Clarification has been fabulous so far. Great bud count and branching and rebloom too. Enchanting Esmeralda is a great performer for me. No rebloom, but lots of buds so it blooms for a long time. Kay--I love the look of Carrick Wildon and have heard good things about it so I think I'll love it when it settles in. Glad to hear that The Band Played On does well for you. Hope it does well for me once it's established. Marg--I think English Lavender is beautiful and it does have a good bud count, but I thought I'd lost it the first winter. It's been fine since then, but has only increased to 5 fans. Rita--clarification has been fabulous so far. One of my best performers this year and I just got it last year. Enchanting Esmerelda is one of my favorites. Val...See MoreLaura twixanddud - SE MI - 5b
