Painting window trim white or leave natural wood?

We're updating our 1990's home to a contemporary look & feel. We're just finishing new white ceilings and paint color to Behr Marquee Evening White (blue tint in natural light) with Intergalactic accent walls in entry/living room/dining room and kitchen. Eventually, we will put in new floors, fireplace, windows & window coverings. I'm torn between painting the window trim & kitchen cabinets white. All the woodwork was custom stained, so once I start, I can't easily (or cost effectively) reverse the decision. Will white look dated soon?

I think the wood gives it a warm feeling, would not paint.

I’d hold off on painting the cabinets. They look great and wood tone cabinets seem to be coming back. Just swap out hardware for something more updated. If you’re waiting to eventually replace the windows, I’d paint just them and the woodwork/baseboards for now.

I would leave the windows and trim. You might consider painting the walls to a more neutral warm white.

* Also when looking at the hallway ^... that photo of the "door" to the right is actually an elevator door...(Its faux painted...done before we moved here.) That is also the dilemma... if husband paints trim white... there is that door and I do NOT want to paint it white. so can the trim around the door be painted?

Would it be weird to paint the window trim in the kitchen white but leave the wood cabinets? I'm buying more modern window treatments: either flat Roman shades (with a bit of texture or pattern) or tightly colored/patterned woven wood shades.

Leave all the wood trim and the cabinets.

Here is a better pic because it seems so dark. I was hoping to brighten it up with new floors and white cabinets but y'all seem to think the wood will make a comeback.

It's an open floor plan and the wood base & trim seems to date the house. No?

I think painting the trim white and leaving the wood cabinets is a nice compromise while still giving you an updated look:)
