thanks for the pics, mydreammhome. I had a hard time finding some too. Joyce - someone else just mentioned Milgard bc they offer a brown interior color. Our inspiration house has wood trim with dark (brown or black?) interior windows and the spec list states they are Marvin Integrity but the house was built in 1999. We have only looked at Marvin so far bc hubby was happy with that and it seems to be primarily what our builder installs. But we may need to look elsewhere if we are set on getting that look. Also I do know what you mean about "framing" out the windows individually. I've seen a few pics before but have never given it much thought. Thanks for those pics. I will definitely share with hubby and see what he thinks. We have several large "banks" of windows - 2 specifically in our kitchen and LR that are 4 windows wide, and many of hte upstairs ones that are 2 or 3 wide. I think that little extra framing makes a substantial difference in impact. Now I just need to see if it will be a price difference. ugh. :)

Well, we have something like you describe, though our window trim is painted to match the baseboard. The doors on the first floor are stained wood, while the doors on the 2nd floor are painted. The windows and stained doors are Douglas fir and the wood on the windows was so lovely that we couldn't bear to paint it. Of course, then we had to paint the baseboards and trim as we did not want to mix woods here and Doug fir for all the trim would have been prohibitively expensive. Floors are red oak. The only negative affect of going all white except for the outside trim, is that the combination will highlight the fact that your trim is the bare minimum. Personally I don't think this is a big deal. I don't think anyone is going to walk in your house and be struck by the fact that you have thin trim. Surely there will be nicer things in the room to draw attention away from the trim.

Post photos of your house if you want ideas. Randomly adding trim can create a route for water intrusion unless done correctly.
