Kumquat tree has white edges on leaves?
Comments (1)Photos, please, difficult to know without seeing what you're trying to describe. A guess, but it sounds like you have either a variegated calamondin, or possibly a Centennial kumquat (variegated). If your tree has fruit on it, snap several pics of the fruits as well. Comments (3)I have been growing meiwa kumquats from seed. They are consistently attacked by spider mites. I believe that the roots do not change their nutrient formulation to defend itself against pest and this is why they are near impossible to grow from seed. I am curious if you have picture of your tree when it was doing very well. Has it produce fruit yet. Al my kumquat tree have died. They put on a growth spurts of significance harden off loose all the leave and die back to 6 inches and then put on beautiful growth. Harden off then infestation takes of every leaf. This stripping growing process happens 2 time a year and my tree went from 8 inches to 30 inches back to 8 they grow to 30 and die back to 8. Steve...See MoreHELP Kumquat tree losing all its leaves
Comments (3)TOO MUCH WATER This is almost alway a problem for us northerners because our trees must be able to take a few days with out watering on our hottest days. Here is what I do that works wonders and makes it possible to leave my tree alone for 4 days in upper 90F weather in the summer. Both tangerine trees are 49 weeks old from seed sprout. I use a shop vac plug into GFI now to protect from water that might drip from pot. My trees are also now permanently place on the vacuum chamber bucket for the cold season 'no setting up necessary". 10 seconds morning 10 seconds evening brings me close to my tree 2 times daily to catch problem while they are small. \vacuum chamber hold pot off cold floor. I mulch the surface to hold down evaporative cooling. A fan will do a fantastic amount to draw moisture from the leaves. This will draw much more on the water in the soil. Works best with leaves on the tree before they drop. Don't change your soil now but wait till spring and use what I am using to get you through the winter....See MoreWhat is this white discoloration?
Comments (5)That second image looks like the damage is done on the reverse of the leaf... I bet you can see them if you peek nice and quiet. Could be several pests. You might consider spraying a diluted Neem solution, which basically makes the plant 'taste icky' without killing beneficial insects. As a beekeeper, I really hope you don't choose an insecticide that ends up killing any ol' bug just for pretty leaves. Lots of dahlia growers do, though....See MoreBleu (Zone 9b - So Cal)
