Help decorating Great Room open to Kitchen
Comments (23)I thought I would post an update and thank all those who offered suggestions. We ended with a version of #3. We still don't have a table for the corner of the 2 couches, but have a place holder there. We plan to put a natural wood table (cheap black place holder now to see how we like it) behind the kitchen backed couch that can have 2 stools and will then get 2 small ottomans to place under a table we plan to place in the window that will also have a few lamps and plants. (the huge dog bed is only there for a temporary dog guest....) We were very pleased to see there is plenty of room to walk around and we both enjoy how we live the other 90% of our lives in this room -- watching TV, surfing, and listening to music and reading. No recliners, but the coffee table is natural wood and metal and is fine for putting feet on and even sitting if needed. It also has 4 huge drawers for laptop storage, games, books, etc. If anyone has window treatment ideas -- feel free! The room needs some color and patterns. The rug is black, sage, tan, crimson. The shelves are a work in progress.......See Morefront door opens into a living room, how to decorate??
Comments (6)Your diagram looks good. I'm not sure how you would like to use the space, so this may or may not be a good plan for you - but here is one option: I would anchor main sofa on wall where 2 chairs are in your diagram, and place the loveseat with back to windows (or if you have 2 settees of same size, would be similar placement) - and I would either do a console or perhaps electric fireplace on wall opposite door, with some art over it. If you need a tv in the space, you could wall mount it and cover it with art when not in use (and you could also put tv on an angling arm for more convenient viewing). If you are using a console you could flank it with the 2 chairs. However, if that is going to be a tv wall - and just generally speaking - it might be more streamlined with just the console, etc., if you don't need the extra seating. You could put 4 chairs with round table in current dining room - as another seating/conversation area, game room, music listening room, etc. Here is the general diagram/idea: And I would hang some sort of nice light fixture/chandelier, with a dimmer, in entry living room. Probably not this big... but this one is fun. ;) Hope some of this helps!...See Moreopen living room/ dining room decor add on’s
Comments (4)The loveseat and the couch is what we have right now. I am debating if il change it to sectional instead as buyng two couches will be way more expensive than sectional. Or ican add an accent chair maybe?...See MoreNeed help decorating dining room that’s now open to my kitchen
Comments (27)A round table large enough to seat even 8 people would make it almost impossible to get additional seating in the room. Plus, a 72" round means that people across the table from each other cannot converse because they are simply out of range. (a la banquet tables that usually seat 8). I have included a seating guide go give you an idea. Your idea of two 72"x36" tables has the same liabilities and more if you choose a table with 4 legs at the corners because someone would have to staddle a leg at each "end". https://www.countrysideamishfurniture.com/blog/entry/the-complete-guide-to-dining-table-seating-capacity I heartily agree with suezbell who suggests trying all this out for yourself with graph paper and furniture cut outs that are done to scale....See Moregroveraxle
