I have a verigated monstera that i got from logees a couple of years ago. Yes, it was expensive but i had been eyeing it in there catalogue and just took the plunge and bought it. i have no regrets it is a beautiful plant. I live in Washington state and mine is indoors. My sister who lives in savanah, Georgia also bought one at the same time. Her leaves are twice as big as mine and she keeps hers on her front deck outside. Her monstera looks like a bush because the leaves are so big and mine looks like a vine with big leaves. :(( We have come to the conclusion that the difference is her plant is outside and the humidity there in savanah. She leaves it outside all year. So light levels and humidity do make a difference.

Kyle..about your Obelisk..it depends where you bought it. I can't tell you the number of 'arbors and bird feeder/hanging basket poles' I bought, hoping they were strong enough to hold an outdoor vine, feeder, plant.. stand erect. They sent thin metal that wouldn't hold a flea. lol I finally bought a decent arbor that's held a number of years. More expensive, but if I added what I paid and would have continued paying for cheaper versions, I could have purchased three expensive types. lol Pics online/catalogs look strong. What a farce! lol Logees. I won't express my opinion, since you have plants on the way. However, I will say, in the mid-90's, Logee's was my favorite, non-local nursery. That's awful about your H. Lauterbachii. I was given one as a gift, purchased from Logees. It wasn't bad. Expensive--stood about 9" tall, several leaves and well-rooted. It's still around, but very slow-growing. Don't know if I'll be on earth when/if it blooms, lol. I hope your Monstera is nice..LMK, okay? I checked Ebay..only green. The seller I bought from with both variegated types, usually sends healthy plants. I was so disappointed when the two variegatas arrived. Think I have a pic, but would have to look for it. Thankfully, prices weren't too bad, each under 15.00. Still, that's more than I prefer to pay, unless a plant is in great health. Many of GlassHouseWorks prices increased. I once phoned, asking for a certain variegated Schefflera..he said, he might have some the following spring..cuttings..175.00..Sure, I'll take a dozen. lol. But GHW's sends healthy plants, or they did..it's been a while since I ordered from them. Kyle, are you growing Lily of the Valley in a container or garden?? Danny, I'd like to walk down your alley, Free plants..The price is right. lol. Seriously, I don't browse through alleys..When we first moved here, walked our dog down alleys, people tossed Azaleas and other flowering plants that could have been grown indoors. I was too embarrassed to grab them though, lol. Someone discarded a brand new plant shelf..They assembled it backwards..so it fell foreward. I got that shelf, re-assembled..it's fantastic..Bet it cost 50.00-75.00 nowadays. I agree, Adansonii is a super fast-grower..Mine is a few yrs old, growing up a swerved, metal stake, but it needs something stronger. The metal tilts. It's leaning on plant shelves before a window. Pothos 'Glacier'. It looks a lot like 'njoy but it's not as crinkly and the leaves are larger. Ivy "Mint Kolibri" It's not the prettiest ivy but it has mint in the name so I have been on the lookout for it for a few weeks. And only because I think it's hilarious. Last night a mouse came into my room jumped in the litter box, went potty then jumped out all the while my cats, Valentine and Purim just sat there. Today, my dog, Ketulah found the mouse, chased it under my bed along the wall and under my dresser. She just heard the mouse and went to investigate. Poor Ketulah can't seem to get behind my dresser to get it. She's since given up and is asleep on her back on my bed. lol

I agree with the others re: the genus being Monstera and not Philodendron, based on my readings. Where I am more confused is what is M. deliciosa vs. “var. Borsigiana.” There was a rumor going around that anything without the wrinkled portion at the leaf and petiole attachment (don’t know what that’s called) being Borsigiana, but I’ve seen some mature legit deliciosa have younger leaves without the wrinkle. I just can’t tell. I can’t even tell what I have, and no clue about the plant I had before! Haha. The variegated ones, be it yellow or white, are stupendously and obscenely expensive in the US. I can’t find a proper cutting with a node with a minimum of two leaves that costs under $130 or so (or else I’d have one!). I would love to grow one but for that price, I have a list of 5 more I’d prefer to grow. Even when you do find one, it may have to be shipped from overseas and the risk of it passing customs or not is on the buyer. At least here on the west coast, the cost of regular green Monstera deliciosa is reasonable, anywhere from $10-40 depending on size, retail store, and condition. They are primarily labeled as “split leaf Philodendron” still, and are usually pre-fenestration and juvenile, so maybe that’s why it’s cheaper than one would think. That said, it’s not common and readily available like some other common houseplants like spider plants or pothos, which are literally everywhere in every store. The M. adanansonii is rare to be found, but when you do, it’s not as expensive as one would expect. At the time I got mine, it was a good $50-100 for a cutting online (+ shipping + risk), but I found it for $49 with a good 6-7 leaves. Still highway robbery - but less so than online.
