totallyblessed and red, y'all missed my post last Sunday about not doing the red bath because the colors I've finally decided for the house would clash terribly with the black and white toile and so I changed the bath to a different toile and it will be a sand/gold rather than red with black and white. I expect my fabric in next week. I won't need it for a while, but ordered it because I could only find it at one store on-line and was afraid it would be discontinued as was my inspiration tapestry where I pulled all my colors from. Here's another photo of the inspiration tapestry. I didn't get much feed back from folks so I figured they just didn't like it, which is fine. I like having a number of colors to pull from rather than just one or two. I want the house to flow from room to room. The actual tapestry will only be used for pillows or something else minor in the great room. I could only get 1.6 yds as it has been discontinued. My luck!! However, when I saw it I knew all those colors appealed to me and I could make my house beautiful using them throughout. I'm thinking about the sample from Carolina Chair as my sofa. It's a microfibre and I have to be practical having all these pets.

Hi, was wondering does anyone have thoughts on the mosaic mirror. Will it look too much mosaic if I decide to go with the mosaic pattern on the lazy susan? Though I am leaning towards painting it for now, as its much easier. Also will the round mirror look too much round shapey with the round table and round lazy susan. I have also been looking at this copper lazy susan from wayfair (this would save me time, to buy ready made). Would it look nice with the wooden table. Its the right size (30"). Most of the other glass ones I have seen are smaller (24").

I dont think it is the paint that is your problem. The problem is the lack of light despite a good sized window. Once those cabinets are taken down (had the same problem here), you will notice a huge difference. I also had lights put in all 4 corners of my dining room, and a new chandelier put in the center of the room, right over the table. What was once a dark dreary place, is now full of light, and its bright and cheerful, and used every day. I didnt go dark with my paint. I used Sherwin Williams Blue Iris (its really aqua), in the dining room, and kitchen and the hallway. It is one of my very favorite colors. Wait til the cabinets are down and gone, and see if yours doesnt brighten up a whole lot. I also agree, you need a nice colorful rug on the floor under the table. The table also should be centered with the light fixture above, and maybe change out the light fixture to one that hangs down. More of a chandelier type. Here are the proper heights for hanging a chandelier over a dining room table, depending upon your ceiling height. Hang a chandelier approximately 30 to 34 inches over a table with an 8 foot ceiling height. If your ceiling is higher than 8 feet, mount the chandelier an additional 3 inches higher for each foot of ceiling.

Sounds like a fireplace re-do might be a longer-term fix. In the meantime, I'd paint the mantle a dark brown, a similar colour to your end tables. It's not trim and shouldn't be white. It pops out too much in the white colour. Another idea that doesn't involve any ripping-out is to go right over the existing mantle using a mantle slipcover in wood.
