Outdoor Kitchen

Hello, not sure in which forum to ask this question! We're going to have a 9' bbq island on our new covered deck. The plan is to have a 36" gas grill and a 22" or 18" kettle charcoal grill. I now really want a Weber Smokey Mountain smoker and then a gas grill. Does anyone have a smoker built in to the island, on a covered deck/patio? I've seen BGEs but not Webers. Also, what other items will I find useful? I've seen drop in ice bins, beer kegerators, sinks...the deck will be near my kitchen so I don't know if I need a sink! Or a fridge or ice maker. I'm in the PNW but we'll have heaters so we *think* we'll be entertaining a lot once we have all of this done.

We are BGE people so we have a BGE that we smoke in built into the counter. People do build in Webers. Here is a link https://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?18214-Outdoor-Kitchen-with-build-in-for-Kettle. It even has links to pics where this was done.

We opted not to have a fridge or a sink in our outdoor kitchens. We did not want the hassle of winterizing the sink and drainage was annoying. With respect to the fridge, it just did not seem like it would get enough use. Even if we entertain once a week during the nice season, we are paying to run it all the rest of the week and offseason. Plus you have to remember to cycle the beverages do beer, soda, and condiments at the back of the fridge do not get old since they are only for entertaining.

We have not missed either of them even once.

You will need Ventilation if this is under roof. You’ll asphyxiate yourself otherwise.

I’ve heard Granite is the best option. We are building a house in Florida with an outdoor kitchen and our builder says Granite is the way to go. Also, I’ve been told by many sources, neighbors and even appliance salespeople, those very expensive icemakers are almost guaranteed to break within a year. We are doing a backyard remodel and building an outdoor kitchen. We’re researching on 26” outdoor grill and a double burner to buy. So whatever brand we choose for the grill, we will buy the same for the double burner. The more important item is the grill, and we are looking for something $2000 and below. What are your thoughts on AOG and Delta Heat for the 26” grill? Any other brands to consider that make great 26” grill? Maybe if you live in the foothills of Los Angeles, place them under a porch roof and they won't get rained on, then they might last a couple of years. Any other climate/location and it will be a really bad idea. Can you use them in a basement or garage for extra storage?

@mtvhike the pool builder and bricklayer. They've since stated they could not have cut out the existing patio (there was concrete in the covered area) to have the conduit hidden. They also just confirmed they are going to pay for the extra bricks/labor to cover it. Here is the solution I came up with. Nice of them to fix it.

Why not go Kamado/BGE over the Weber Smokey? As far as I am concerned it is a better product.

Eric, mainly because I have used Webers my whole life and love them, and I don't want to spend the extra$$ for BGE. I don't know enough about the other brand you mentioned but I researched the Weber Smokey extensively and I think it's a good fit for me.

Kamado is the style of grill that the BGE is. There are several brands of them. We have had both the Weber’s and the BGEs. The BGE holds temp a lot better. We can do a 20 hour pork butt smoke and not have to screw with it at all. We are bought our BGEs used on Craigslist for about what a Weber goes for, (Not trying to persuade you given that I have no vested interest in your smoker 1000 miles away.)
