H. 'Eternal Father' and HVX
Comments (3)The Library says that the viability of the seeds are questionable. Here's the blurb from myhostas database: H. 'Eternal Father' is definitely a distinctive plant. Jesse Willetts registered this sport of 'Sun Power'. According to Jesse, this sport was created by planting 'Sun Power' with a Snickers Bar and that the dark green mottling of the leaves holds all season until the plant is taken down by frost. Very interesting! You have to question anything that was said by someone who claimed to get a new sport by planting a Hosta with a snickers bar. Steve...See MoreBest Father's Day
Comments (3)What a FABULOUS gift for a special day!!! I'd LOVE to have such an opportunity!! Maybe I'll suggest it to my hubby who has really indulged me my passion for a plant!! He's not a hosta-lover but he's a love to allow me my hobby and the time he's spent with me drooling over many of them in nurseries, and on field trips to other forum members homes. Actually, he's come a long way--he even likes one of our forum friends, 'Dave' and looks forward to being with him and his wife when we have gotten together to do the 'hosta-thing'! treemon--I bet your head is still whirling!! I can only imagine the fun you had and the knowledge you got to glean from those hosta-greats! WOW!!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful weekend with us, too!...See MoreMy Father's Will
Comments (27)I recently lost both of my parents. I have four brothers and sisters and most of them have children. The possessions are not worth a ton of money and luckily none of us are really fighting over anything. Everything is supposed to be divided evenly between us kids. Two important things that I have learned from this experience: Online wills or cheap easy to fill out wills do not hold up in all states. Very few states will recognize a hand written will anymore. My parents did the cheap online version and we had to take everything through court to have it approved by the state. It didn't cost us much but it did drag things out a bit. Saying things like, "when I go, you can have such-and-such" does not mean anything AFTER they die. If someone wants to give you something, they need to hand it over to you BEFORE they die. After they die all their possessions become part of their estate and are no longer theirs to give. So if you father would like to reward one of his children for whatever reason, he could give them something valuable before he dies and then let his will be an equal split. It could be a way around hurt feelings when things start to get divvied up....See MoreMy small collection
Comments (59)Thank you both! @ Holly: The greenhouse is roughly 8 feet x 12 feet. I bought it as a do-it-yourself kit and assembled it with my parents in their backyard for my carnivorous plants (the roses came later). I live in an apartment, but am planning to move, so I can have a backyard of my own. Most of the roses I've bought this year are in containers so they will be easy to relocate. The lavenders will probably stay in their containers as they have a reputation for being a bit on the tender side in my native Denmark. Most of my container roses are outside, but I plan to overwinter them in the greenhouse. @ Carol: RMH, or Summer Romance as it's known in the States, is a recent acquisition, but it looks promising....See Morelecorps4fun
