Anyone With Can Lighting in Bedrooms With 10' Ceilings??
Comments (11)My FIL's new home only has ceiling fans with lights in the BRs and it is WAY too dark. Now, granted, he has stained plantation shutter that block a lot of natural light and he has the ceiling and walls painted the same med. toned color. But I feel like I can't really see anything when I go into those rooms. (Much like my current house! :) So we will be putting 4 cans plus a ceiling fan with lights in each bedroom. I'd rather have them and not need them than to need them and not have them!...See MoreHelp Designing My Lighted Master Bedroom Ceiling
Comments (2)You might want to do a search on "cove" lighting. The bulbs are typically hidden above a ledge at the perimeter of the tray, bouncing light off the ceiling to provide soft, ambient light without bright spots. You'll probably want to supplement it with other lights for reading or similar tasks....See MoreAdding a Tray Ceiling to Master Bedroom - Cost??
Comments (1)We have a relatively new house (3 years old) that surprisingly, doesn't have a tray ceiling in the master bedoom. Obviously this would need to be done by a qualified professional. I am sure it's expensive, but any idea how much this would cost?...See MoreCoffer/Tray Ceiling in Master Bedroom

Because then you have to figure out what parts should be what color, where to start color, where to end it. Whereas if you keep it simple and leave it as is, it's a lot easier to figure out. For example, paint the walls and ceiling the same color so you can leverage the natural shadowing that happens with try/coffered ceilings. The edges and details are naturally emphasized by light and shadow. No PITA edges to cut in with paint, no decisions about what color goes where....See MoreAlyssa Scott
