Comments (7)Thank you ... the ninebark and rose were kind of planned, but I didn't realize just how nice they would look together with the dark foliage, white lacey flowers and deep red roses. I do love it :) GothicLibrarian - not sure which Hydrangea you mean? If you mean the long distance shot in the 3rd photo, those aren't hydrangeas but Peonies ... they are gorgeous up close when the entire peony hedge there is blooming!...See MoreHard Work Garden Weekend!
Comments (13)So Michael, Tell me about that dill. I had one of those novice gardener's first years, that made everything else I've done since seem puny. One of my successes that first year was a fabulous dill plant that lived for months, and prompted me to try dill in just about everything - it's great in burgers, btw. So now I have super dukat dill seeds.... and very little to show for them. The babies die before I can get them in the ground. Tips? Is there some trick to dill that I unknowingly discovered that first year and have since lost, like some dead sea scroll of dill? Or maybe it's a dead sea scroll of vegetable and herb growing in general, something that will explain why I had more broccoli than we could eat that year, for months on end, and haven't been able to harvest much of anything since. I won't even start on tomato problems, which seem to multiply the more I learn about tomatoes. Stupidity worked well for me, now that I think about it. It all makes me think more of a snake than a scroll, actually. Knowledge seems to be my problem. Hmmmm....See MoreHad a great weekend in the garden!
Comments (3)Hi Kara! Sounds like you did a ton of work! I also did some thinning of my parents' plants - we took out a 30-year-old crinum and got more room in their garden. Like 10 square feet! Then they had a huge stand of Giant Liriope and I took much of that home with me for my garden. I also took home a back ache, but that didn't stop me from working out in the yard more today! So since you show Tavi helping out, I thought I'd show Rosie checking out the Blue Flags (this is an old picture)...See Morembug_gw
