Help rearranging living room!
Comments (6)I see your struggle with the living area, since it is small and right at the opening of the house. You do have nice elements to work with, like your big window and hardwood floors. You're right about painting the walls lighter -- the farmhouse look is airy, bright, and natural. Grey sofas are a good idea. Your art is too small, like shari13 said. It would be beneficial to have one large piece above the sofa that matches the look and feel of the furniture. Get a console table that is 50% larger than the TV on either side, and maybe mount the TV on the wall above the table for a cleaner look (of course, mounting the TV is entirely optional, but the console table length is considered a "design rule"). Getting rid of the recliner was a good idea. Finish the look with a nice, big transitional-styled area rug....See MorePlease help me rearrange and brighten my living room.
Comments (6)Hello! A few things I notice right away. •The couches against the wall could be moved closer to the entertainment center. I would suggest forming a ‘U’ facing the entertaining center. Also this will ensure the coffee table will be closer to the couches and not lonely in the middle of the room. ;) • On the Wall that currently has the couches on them, the art/frames are much to small for a space that size. I would get a large mirror for that wall, it will brighten up the room. ( This could easily be the Gold you were wanting, a gold framed mirror) • You might consider also a larger rug-if not-make sure the couches are arranged more closely to it. • Lighting! Lamps or sconces are frosting on the cake. I believe the ‘rule’ is a least three sources of lighting. Overhead, low lighting and (I can’t remember) a third....See MoreWill you help me rearrange my living room so it makes sense?
Comments (33)it's nice to get the furniture off the wall but you don't need a walkway behind the longest sofa. you DO need it behind the new location of the love seat around the back and the kitchen side to the back door. moving the 3 seater back up against the wall and shifting the love seat with it will open up more space on the kitchen side opening up the room even more. or just move the sofa to the wall and leave the loveseat so you still have a path to the doors across the seating area. the cabinet you have angled in the corner now can act as a sofa table behind the love seat just to give you and idea or it can go under the opening to your kitchen or along the wall under your mirror. love your mirror by the way, I wouldn't paint it. the white chair looks great in the room. first picture to show that with a sofa table you don't look at the back of a couch and leaves a walkway thru the seating. imagine the left sofa in the 2nd picture against a wall the loveseat forming and L with an end table between. the 3rd an alternate location for the chair just make sure you still have comfortable access to the door ....See MoreRe-arranging My Very Narrow Living Room
Comments (2)@Kit Nichols Correct. The small square room (where the green yoga mat is sitting) is the bedroom and typically separated with 2 big sliding doors that were moved out of the frame. Behind the camera is kitchen, "dining area" and entryway. Didn't see relevant to the conversation, so I left it out....See MoreNancy Ingram
