Root rot?? Help please!

While I was swapping the pots of my black prince and echeveria derenbergii, I noticed a black spot at the base of the stem (Picture 1). Im not sure if thats root rot or if its just some dirt but the plant itself looked like it was opening (picture 2). If it is root rot, what would you suggest I do?

Also, its pups (picture 3) that I seperated a few weeks back have started to stretch (except the one farthest back? which I found strange) so I was thinking of moving them outside. I was wondering if they would they do better with morning or afternoon sun, partial shade or direct sun, etc?

Other info:

I live in a zone 8a (canada) but the temperature is fairly warm right now (more or less 20C)

If rot, stem is usually quite soft. I can't tell from pic if yes or no. If stems are rotting, plants are usually beheaded.

One of the plants in pic 2 is etiolating; but maybe even top right plant is starting to (again, just looking at the photo). I keep succulents in lots of sun, but let rootless ones to establish before putting into good sun.

BTW, I am surprised that you consider 20*C 'fairly warm' - I am also in Canada, in colder zone than yours, and temps have been lately in thirties...right now is 32*C (still raising); yesterday high was 35*C, same past few days. Rest of the week is expected same. And humidex values are in very high 30-ties and up to 45*C...

I would consider 20*C more than comfortable; and if plants have started to grow roots, keep them in at least morning sun.

The stem is firm so I guess no root rot then? Also yeah 2 of the 3 pups are stretched, so I’ll try to find a good place for them outside.

Oh wow its hot there! I live near the coast (BC) so the temp here is usually 20s and low 30s (in the spring/summer). It was 34*C a few weeks back in spring but it lasted one day and then the next day it was 22*C and raining aha. The average temp right now is 24*C

By far and away, the very best product to get rid of fungus gnats is Gnatrol. You can purchase this on amazon.com. Organic and very, very effective. Just be sure to treat all your indoor plants, as they can be living in other indoor plant soils, and will return to your citrus if you don't treat everything. I would say the loss of leaves is probably more due to not enough light. I would provide additional artificial light for your trees. And, I would switch to DynaGro Foliage Pro for your fertilizer. Using in-ground granular fertilizers in container citrus can cause salts build up, and cause burning. Patty S.

Should i have left it alone to begin with? I tried to, but i was watching it get more and more rotten by the minute and became convinced it was rot because of the clear yellowish liquid that came out when i poked the soft part with a needle. I have grown many non rooted cuttings and never experienced any rot or growth issues before. I will definitely leave it now, thank you for your input.

oh my god! this is not even my plant. i was just asking for the name of the scissors. i am not the owner of the fiddle leaf fig that has a rotten root. i had to cut the container because it is a little taller than the decorative pot. around 0.5 inch only. the container is white and the pot is black. for me it looks ugly so I want to cut the top part. why is it so bad? why am i the bad person here?

Ah, you live somewhat near me, I'm outside Seattle. You have too many roots to have rot. Usually you will have none.
