I've had a baby jade gollum for about a year. Its grown steadily
since I bought it. Never showed any signs of being sick... its only
gotten fuller and taller throughout the winter. Out of curiosity I
unpotted it and the roots are all stringy and brown. There is no foul
odor, just an earthy smell? Most plants I have whose roots are healthy
are white or tan and that doesn't seem to be the case here.. I tried
sort of digging into the side of the unpotted mass to find some white
tips and I don't see any.
On one hand the roots look so
stringy and unhealthy, so I feel like it might be rotting? But the
plant is doing so well so it seems to run counter to the idea that
theres rot. I don't know what to make of this or what to do? Should I
perform "surgery" and shave off these brown thready roots? Or leave it alone?
