You are overthinking this. Jades are used to difficult growing conditions. No need to make things harder than they need to be. These are some of the easiest plants to grow. A few yellowing leaves does not present a problem, as Josh has mentioned. I would just remove them. Your plant as it is looks in excellent health. What you need to do, in my opinion, is not water too much, place in the sunniest window possible, and put in an unglazed terra cotta pot. You do not NEED to repot into gritty mix. That is a personal choice. They can and do thrive without doing so. Mine is not in gritty mix but has been doing fine. Good luck with yours. Christopher

Gill & Crenda are right on. 8" pot sounds too large. It is not that they like smaller pots. The big pot is not necessary, and makes watering - in water retaining soil - more of the problem. Big pot = lots of soil = better chance of overwatering. For so much soil, the plant will sit in a 'muck' for too long, I suspect that's what happened to your plant. Forget the vermiculite (return it if you can - it is nor very good soil amendment). If you have to use C&S soil, please use a small amount of it (20, max 30%) and amend with grit & perlite. Many ppl mix it 50/50, but to make it better draining, decrease soil portion (especially if you have 'heavy hand' with watering can, as I used to too :)

I've found that getting to a place where you're not in constant battle with an overly water-retentive medium for control over your plants' vitality is a very good place to be. Soggy soils and what they spawn account for the overwhelmingly large fraction of growers who land on this site's fora in search of remedial help. You might find this helpful. In case root ball has any dead-dry, damaged-broken or mushy-rotting roots, they should be cut off. It isn't traumatic for plant, it actually helps. Trimming roots is often suggested, if needed. May I ask how do you know it is already growing new roots? Or are you saying it was growing them before you re-potted? How much lower did you potted plant comparing to before? Some 'lifting' of plant is usually no problem. If any of my plant has nice, thick and almost woody root very close to surface, I often keep them exposed. Sometimes, too much of trunk could be under soil, and potting plant little higher should be no problem. But nothing should be overdone. Any pot should work, in general, as long as potting mix drains well and there is a drainage hole in it. I just re-potted my Skinny fingers from small terracotta (it was in it for more than 4 years!) into plastic of better size. Please, post photo again, we like to see what is talked about.
