It all has to do with colorfast. Some manufacturers cheap out on this process.. I've yet to find a procedure to stop the dye bleed. Textiles made in China seem to be the worst but not the only ones for sure. My suggestion whatever brand you buy that bleeds this much put on your do not buy list. Lol

Cherry, could it be that hand washing without the agitatation, movement of a washer, the dye just doesn't come out as usual after one or two washes? Hand washing is much gentler.

I do agitate the clothes in the sink which maybe is why the dye is coming out. I put the soap in, move the clothes around, squeeze the soapy water through them. I am just surprised though after many washings the dye is still coming out. I am hoping within the next month my hand washing days will be over forever haha it has been a long haul especially for washing heavier winter clothes items. Summer clothes are so much easier to handle.

Cherry do you not have a washer? If you ment your buying a washer. .which one will you get? Funny but if I had the room and the money I'd have two washers. LOL.

Seems to me someone had mentioned a product to set dye......ElizabethR maybe? We used to soak new dark clothes in salt water which was supposed to help with fading. I can't imagine hand washing eveything. Hope you get a washer very soon.

I do have a beautiful front loading LG washer and dryer stacked in my kitchen that I longingly look at every day. I bought them with the insurance money I received to replace the machines and the gas furnace I lost when my basement flooded during a storm last August. I made the decision not to put the machines back down the basement because I will flood again plus with having a bad back and knees it would just be easier on me to have them on the main floor. After getting quotes to have the machines installed it was just too costly for me to do. I have been cutting back everywhere I could to save enough to get the machines installed. I am almost there haha I can taste it. I am just waiting on one last pay cheque from my election work. Our hours were capped this election so I didn't make as much as I thought I would plus my first pay was a 3 week time period so a huge amount of taxes was taken off. I am going to get a few more quotes for the electrical, plumbing and venting and see where I am at. My first quote was $2400. Work is also starting on my ceilings in my kitchen and living room which were damaged by another storm almost 2 years ago so once the work is done in the kitchen I am hoping to get the washer and dryer hooked up.

I can't wait and it is so close to them being hooked up. I just posted this morning after I did some washing because I noticed how much dye was still coming out of the clothes I was washing and the items weren't particularly dark nor dirty. I should start reading the manuals to see how this washer and dryer works. I think these machines can be bluetooth connected so it will be easier than getting on a stepstool to read the dryer display if I use the bluetooth. I had a Maytag Brava top loader before so I will also have to get used to how a front loader washing machine works. I have loads of laundry to keep me busy.

I wouldn’t have thought hand washing would be any more likely to wash dye out of clothes than machine washing, so once you get your machines hooked up I suspect the dyes will continue to be washed out, you just won’t see it happening.
