I'm linking a post from the gallery section of the gardenweb decorating site. Some of the pictures started in 2008 and some have been deleted, most look professionally decorated as well as "regular people" (like me too). Thanks guys, it's so much fun. My problem is I need more rooms to decorate, but I'm not Warren Buffet, so I am always doing rooms in my head. I'd love to be an interior designer, but then I'd have to deal with clients! In my head, I'm the only client that needs to be satisfied. And without deadlines or budgets or suppliers, it's so much less stressful! When we were designing our house, I had a notebook with tabs for each room full of design inspirations. But we were in the design phase for so long...7 years!...that, even before spade went to ground, I started complaining to the architect that the guest room was looking shabby and needed to be redone! :)

That one is much nicer and a better size than the glass one. Let me ask a question; How old are your kids who will be using this room, and how do they currently use their laptops? I ask only because I am getting the impression, which may be 100% incorrect, that the look of the room is more important that how the room works for them using it. Once we learned that it was for your kids, I thought that only one of them can use the room at a time, if you go the desk and sideboard route. I loved nosoccermom's idea above, so that more than one child has a place to sit and surf at the same time. Or do they usually just use their laptops in their rooms or in the living or family room. Do you think the kids will use this room? If not, I'd set it up any way that you'd like it to appear and feel for your vision.

OhmyGOSH, thank you guys so much for the reassurance! If success is possible, armed with less than a dozen pictures and my own personality, well, what a relief. :-P Don't become too enamored with any specific house design or type until you have specific land in mind. :-) Virtually zero chance of that happening, lol, but the reminder is *always* a good one!!! I'm actually not sure I'm capable of becoming attached to a house (former military brat who moved around a lot), lol, so no worries there. And yes, atrium would be awesome, but so would a million combinations of other things, like 2 L's facing each other but one inverted; 2 mirrored U's; 2 mirrored C's; an I with an L; an H with an I; three Is (man I wish this forum used a serif font, so that my Is made more sense); whatever. As long as I can get some courtyards out of it, that I can throw potted roses into, I'll be happy, lol. I will admit that sometimes, it seems like I'm so picky I'll never be happy, and other times I'm totally like, "Oh yeah all of those options are cool." I think with macro stuff, I'm happy with a ton of different things, but the micro gets me every time (like why can't I find *any* light fixtures that I would kill to have????). :-D So maybe my real worry should be interior design, lol.
