How do you find the owner when you find a lost cat?
Comments (5)The newspaper issue is a hard one, isn't it? Yes on the craigslist. I would also send a flyer to all of your local vets because most have bulletin boards for such ads. Some areas have free weekly merchandiser papers they distribute to homes and businessness and that's a possibility. Ours has. Then report it to your local shelter or humane officer in case anyone should call there to see if it turned up....See MoreCan you help me find a kitchen to match this table? :)
Comments (30)Don't ya just love looking out the window at them! My fence is very near the north side of my house and in the summer with the windows open I can talk to them while I'm sitting here at the computer. I can see them from the south windows, too, so no matter where I am, I know what they're doing. Yours are QH?...See MoreHow do you care for your wooden kitchen table?
Comments (15)For prevention, yeah, the best things to do are to always use placemats and coasters and educate the household on new rules for using the table. To this day I can't not have a stack of paper or a notebook under the piece of paper I'm writing/drawing on. Get blotters and cutting mats for any non-dining activities, but preferably separate work tables. As for fixing any damage that does occur, there are a couple things that I've found successful: I've had very good results using denatured alcohol (100% alcohol, no water) to lift those white water stains from tables. The white discoloration is moisture stuck in the finish, and the alcohol pulls it right out. And Old English scratch cover for nicks and minor scratches. Doesn't repair them, but makes them effectively invisible....See MoreWhat do you say? How do you find words?
Comments (38)This is the fifth time in my social/family circle that I have heard of someone being killed by a close family member. It is more common than people think. In all of the cases I am referencing, the woman and in some cases children, were killed by the father/husband/boyfriend. Getting over it will be a long process. I would advise taking a tip from the "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" school of thought. One will never be able to figure out the "why" or get over the shock and horror and grief. But one must move forward. Important to move forward in honor of those we have lost. This is what they would want for us and from us. Just be there for them consistently, let them talk about it without trying to make it less or make it go away, but also encourage positive actions in honor of those who are lost. Perhaps some type of memorial. In several of the cases I know where someone was killed, the community has established scholarship and violence prevention programs in their honor. Perhaps there is one already going on in your community to which you could donate in honor of the family....See More- 8 years ago
