First, thank you all for the feedback this is why I wanted more opinions. I have more pictures but can't seem to upload more than one at a time. It is nice to hear that at least the cabinets look good from afar. They are not solid cherry if they were solid cherry fronts, I agree I would not be so quick to paint them, they are just a cherry veneer. I included a close up of the cabinets to give you an idea they aren't in great shape. Bee - your kitchen is amazing! thanks for the thoughts. I never noticed the orangey floors but you are right they do look that way and now that I am looking at it, it is overcast from the cabinets. Good idea of painting up a couple of boards, I have little swatches taped all over the space because we get a lot of sun movement in the space throughout the day. The table is 108 inches long, I am drooling over James Moder florale chandelier but need two of them. I don't think I could get DH to agree to three! LOL. A couple of responders noticed the island, the island is a just big box, open box deal, I don't think we paid $300 bucks for it, its a dark stain. Not worth refinishing. I would love to replace the counters, but with the sq ft we need it would be double that of a professional painting the cabinets, and I am really afraid that they would just look worse!

Thanks for the TopKnob # and the mention of the offset drain. Will keep that in mind for my own since I would prefer to have a small trash container under my sink if possible. I have to tell you it's really inspiring to see small kitchens done so well. Function plus style. I have a small kitchen compared to most I see on GW. Restricted by one wall taken up by a nook and windows and limited options for where the appliances can go. I contemplate swapping my kitchen with our typically unused dining room. It would make one big space, but so far no design is a home run. I keep coming back to how efficient it is to work in my step saving kitchen. Sure a swap would make it a showstopper and it would be functional, but not more functional and is it worth jackhammering my foundation and who knows what else to reroute everything? Is it worth the time, hassle and $? Would that $ be better spent updating my patio and backyard landscaping since here in S CA we entertain more outside? I struggle with the choice. I know that sounds so dramatic, me and my first world "problems". Ridiculous. Too many choices. I just want a little style to go with my function and it's kitchens like yours that remind me style can come in small packages!

I love 'concrete gray'. The floors will warm things up a lot and I don't think you'll have to worry about the room looking cold. Is your white creamy and warm at all? I think you have some classic material colors planned and can go many ways with backsplash. What is the overall style you're going for? Classic? Contemporary? Whimsical? Organic? What is the style of your cabinets? If you're using a cabinet style that is somewhat classic, I could see adding some color like burgundy subways. You could even do something wilder like painted Mexican tiles....Something modern like glass...or older like brick. Sticking with something the color of your cabinets with a little pizazz added in accents or a liner would be elegant.

with the pics u posted, its hard to see the exact color of the floor, one pic it looks like it has gray in it and another it looks like it has pink undertones. with that said, i would go with a taupe/warm gray color. i think that would look great with the granite. you can do the bottom the warm gray color and a warm white on top if u want.... i would definitely paint the walls . that color would depend on what u paint u cabs... i don't think that green looks good with the granite. if u paint any more cabs with sample paint, try painting a door on the bottom near the floor to get a good idea how it will look with the floor. you can always pull a color out of the granite for your cabs, they can use your sample to color match it at the paint store...
