Reviews on their Omega custom cabinets anyone?
Comments (76)Horrible experience with Omega cabinets. I'm currently in the process of remodeling my kitchen and bar. We originally ordered my cabinets in october 2021 and were told that there was a 4 months lead time and we had to order right away because Omega was going to raise prices within a week. We were comfortable with ordering Omega as they were the top brand in semi custom cabinets and came highly recommended. So we didn't shop around and just decided to go with the "best". Although we were happy with our Diamond brand cabinets for our bathrooms. We received our cabinets in February as promised and due to things running long, they sat in my garage until we were ready to install. We opened up the cabinets in March and to our surprise 50% of the cabinets had major defects that I could not accept the product. We immediately ordered replacements and were told that we would have them in 4 weeks. Well, it's May 27 2022 today and I recieved my replacements 8 weeks later. I cannot believe the quality of the product from Omega. The new cabinets still have dings, missing paint, chips along the shelves and doors, scratches and smears all along the top. I'm beyond frustrated with the experience of my cabinets and this is what I paid nearly $40k for! In addition to putting my entire remodeling project on hold for months and costing me extra stress and money from not having a kitchen and having to order out every meal, paying for storage of my entire 1st floor just because it's waiting for cabinets. This is probably one of the worst products that I've received in my remodeling. DO NOT BUY FROM OMEGA....See MoreKitchen Design - Omega Dynasty Cabinetry
Comments (21)Are you able to post a layout diagram? I'm wondering about aisle clearances, especially with bar stools pulled out from the island, across from the fridge. Do you know what you are storing in the tall shallow bank of cabinets? If not... have you gone through what you need to store and identified where it goes, throughout the kitchen? Have you identified your prep area and clean-up zone? Where are trash pull out(s)? Do you have a recycling center, do you compost, how many people are in the kitchen cooking at once... I suggest more time spent on functionality at this time before finalizing cabinet choices. BTW- I highly recommend 18" deep uppers, they are wonderful for large bowl storage. You have selected wonderful cabinets and I would like to see you get the best kitchen possible:) One more idea - if you stick with the current wall, another idea might be to use lighted glass uppers all the way around. You aren't going to able to access these cabinets easily. Poorly shown here:...See MoreOmega vs. Showplace kitchen Cabinets
Comments (7)@Rebecca Geisler-Hepner I'm so glad you're in Michigan so I can give you this recommendation, then! There is a company called Benchmark Wood Studio in Holland, Michigan, and their online portfolio is perfection. They would have been the first company from which I would have sought a quote had I been local, but at the time we focused on companies nearer to us to save shipping costs since we are over 1,000 miles away from MIchigan. Michigan is a gorgeous state, as you know, with several communities of Amish tradesmen, so you might look into other local builders as well. If you check out Benchmark, I would love to know how the experience worked for you. Obviously the reviews to which I previously directed you regarding Omega were from people who had recently installed and/or lived with the cabinetry as I hope you read for yourself rather than taking my word for it. I have inspected Omega and Kemper (a subsidiary) cabinetry displays in person but based my own decision to move on to other companies on a variety of factors. Based on recent reviews, you could do better than Omega/Kemper, and you could definitely do much, much worse as far as finish quality, construction, and warranty service. It pays to read up on as many recent reviews as you can possibly find before committing to any builder, and take note of the dates of the reviews. More than one of the cabinet companies and even faucet companies and other suppliers that were favorites of the former Garden Web contributors and that still are referenced in searchable threads here in the Houzz forum after the merger have shifted over the years in ownership, service, and other factors that are essential to a good experience post-installation. There may be improvement over the years (hopefully), they may be the same, or there maybe some new things to consider....See MoreOmega Dynasty vs local custom cabinets?
Comments (34)I read some of the reviews and looked at their pictures. I have had none of the issues others people were complaining about. Honestly, some of the pictures looked more like dings or damage caused by installation, not production (maybe an installer is trying to put the blame elsewhere so they don't have to take responsibility for their actions?) E.g., the torn cabinet looks exactly like mine did when the counter installers tried turning a huge piece of stone counter in-place when they realized they had put it on the cabinets wrong...I heard the tear/rip of the cabinets from upstairs! That was NOT Omega's fault, it was the counter installers' fault -- and they paid to replace the cabinet. Regardless, no one is perfect -- not you, not me, not the reviewers, and not companies. There will be some issues occasionally, it's how they handle issues that is important. My experience is they are wonderful. (While it shouldn't make a difference, sometimes your attitude towards someone can affect their reaction, if you call them and immediately act belligerent or accusatory without giving them a chance, you may not get the best reaction...be pleasant but firm. Remember, you're dealing with people, not computers.) Be aware that (1) the overwhelming majority of people who are pleased will not post a review, usually only someone who is unhappy will take the time to write a review and (2) you need to check if the reviews are valid (not sure how to do that, but I know on some sites people will "down rate" their competition). Oh, and Dynasty is NOT custom, despite what one of the reviewers stated -- they're SEMI-custom. The custom line is Pinnacle....See MoreThe Kitchen Abode Ltd.
