Rutt cabinets vs. Dynasty/ Omega vs. Downsview?
Comments (6)mnhockeymom - When you say you ditched them and went custom, I presume you mean with someone local, not national chain or something? I think I recall you live in ... the midwest?? so that probably won't help me. But I have seen and love your kitchen, esp your thick marble which continues to inpsire me. I guess that makes me wonder if I should shop it around to local custom, presumably smaller outfits?? In truth, I have what I think is a workable quote from Dynasty/Omega (some pieces from each line depending on needs - thanks igloo - I am aware of the difference) and they seem to be able to provide what I need (at least at this early stage - granted not everything has been worked out/designed completely) and I'm not sure what it's worth to get pricing from these other lines which I feel confident will be more expensive (perhaps with the exception of Canyon Creek). Just wondering how much better they can be. Not building Trump Tower here, but also want quality that will last and look good. ahhh! Decisions, decisions....See MoreAdelphi vs Omega cabinets
Comments (0)I'm in the infancy stage of gutting/expanding my kitchen. I've read through many of the cabinet threads and overall both the Adelphi and Omega cabinets get good reviews. Does anyone have personal experience regarding quality and cost? How would you rate these in terms of middle of the road, upper middle, etc? Also, what has been your process with selecting a KD and/or contractor? Do you feel that you get a better rate from a KD that is not part of a kitchen design retail store? Did you pick your KD based on the cabinet brands sold at the store? What is the difference b/n custom vs semi-custom? Is semi-custom by the inch and custom any size?...See MoreKemper vs. Dynasty (made by Omega) painted white cabinets
Comments (5)We have Dynasty cabinets by Omega, painted white (oyster, with a caramel glaze, very subtle). They are not shaker style, but they are very well made, and we are extremely happy with them. Also, all dealings with the company (through our KD) were smooth and fast, and all of the cabinets were delivered on time and in excellent condition (no returns). They were packed well, and all finishes were perfect. We did add a few trim pieces, in addition to adding a banquette, and all pieces, although ordered later, arrived pretty quickly, and the finishes were consistent with the main cabinet order. We also have an alder island from Dynasty, and it is beautiful. From our experience this past summer, I would recommend Dynasty. I have no experience with Kemper. Good luck to you!...See MoreChoosing frameless cabinets Cabico vs Showplace
Comments (10)I ended up going with Showplace because the kitchen designer was really helpful and invested in improving on the architect's poor design and I felt that he would personally stand behind the product if we ran into any issues. Our cabinets are ready but will be delivered in a couple of weeks. However, if I already had a layout I was happy with or was just replacing cabinets in an existing kitchen, I think the Cabico cabinets would have been a better choice for me. It's all a blur now, but I preferred the color selection and overall they would have been more cost effective because I think they are cheaper to begin with and you could use a combination of custom and semi-custom cabinets from their line to meet your needs. With Showplace I found that every time I made what was a small change in the design from my perspective, it was incredibly expensive, and we were cutting corners to avoid completely blowing my budget. By cutting corners I mean not including cabinet accessories that I could get cheaper aftermarket or not putting in glass door cabinets that I had originally had in mind. Overall, I am happy with my concept and the turnaround on the cabinets is quick (about 6 weeks)....See MoreAglitter
