Comments (66)Thanks, Josephine! I wish I had the desire to draw more often, but it comes around so sparingly nowadays. When I was little, right through and a few years after school, I was always drawing or painting. Now I don't seem to have the time or motivation. I started the outline of my newest project, but we'll see how far I go before I give up, but hopefully I won't. A drawing like Oscar's takes me hours to do, and now that I'm working full time I won't be able to work for hours at a time like I did with him, which helps keep me motivated to finish versus only putting in an hour or two a day. We shall see though. I may have to make myself finish. Karen...See MoreBest paint color for black doors? going off kswl's thread....
Comments (16)Update on our door paint-- after priming in gray and using satin paint over, we've decided to go back with semigloss. The satin was fine for the doors at the entry, where there is a lot of natural light, but we have a hallway with five doors opening on it and the satin paint just sucks all the light out of the area. So on Monday we are reprinting these seven doors in semi gloss, then will go after the other twelve doors on this level. I am hoping it won't present a problem with the high gloss trim, but as Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say, "it's always something."...See MoreKlinger inspired Seashell light shade
Comments (17)oh my gosh CharO, it's been awhile since I finished , so hope I remember correctly. I believe I used alenes tacky glue to attach the shells, arranging them as I went around. I originally put liquid leading all around the shells trying for the stained glass look a few of us were trying, but that was a disaster, so I had to scrape that off and take off most of the shells. PITA. I started over just using glue, shells, adding pearls and throwing sand in between. it was fairly simple, the lamp was a cheapo from Lowes i think cost less than $20 and very plain glass shade, and it worked perfect for this. I did discover lately when I glue shells to my hurricane lamps that mastic works wonderfully on shells that are hollow so you can then glue them to a base. You can buy mastic at almost any home improvement store in the tile area. You might want to try that.. Looking forward to see what you do....See MoreSorry! Didn't mean to hijack Casey's post
