IMHO, I like the look of wire/cable better, but others here have pendants that look great with the rod. I think the size of the pendant determines which would look better. Do you have a link?

I am no design expert, but I don't think that chandelier has any of those characteristics you listed. :-( I personally would wait until you have your kitchen installed before purchasing the lighting. You may or may not end up with an exact replica of your inspiration kitchen. I think lighting should be one of the last decisions, not the first.

Thanks for your replies. Here are the answers to your questions - The foot print of the space inside the kitchen is just under 9feet X 6feet. Additional natural light comes from the top left area of the diagram. Just outside the frame of the diagram is the dinette area which has windows on both walls. There is a door with windows which leads to back porch in the diagram. We had a light designer come to the house and after taking into his feedback as well as the link Lawrence Sprowls directed me to, we are going to keep the 4" LED cans and not switch to 6" inch cans. We are also going to focus the lights on the surface areas where food prep happens. I've updated my diagram to reflect the light which comes in through the adjacent dinette area and the back porch door. I've also added the locations of proposed 4" inch cans. I don't know if we should put another 4" can where the circled #3 is in the diagram. We aren't planning to light those cabinets which have windows in them. We don't prep food on that side of the kitchen; it is space where the mini-oven, Google home and music player has lived.

The island will be in the same location, extending 1 foot to the left. The peninsula will be in the same location. I'm really only looking for input on lighting. We've addressed layout issues. If you don't have input on lighting then no problem.
