fireplace too small?
Comments (2)The black you see is soot. And that's from a wood fire. Possibly the owners have been building fires for heat and have been building too large of fires. But the solution to your delimma is simple. Call the inspector and ask what the heck does he mean?...See MoreIs this fireplace screen too small?
Comments (0)My fireplace opening measures 48" wide and 33" tall. I just ordered a flat fireplace screen wtih doors. It measures 44" wide and 33" tall. I was replacing a curved screen that had the 48" wide measurements. The curved screen didn't look undersized but the new flat one makes the difference more noticable. I don't think it is a safety issue because of the inside shape of the fireplace. But, will this look weird?...See MoreRealistic gas fireplace w/out too much depth
Comments (6)If it's space you are concerned about, look into the Slim Line Series by H & G. The SL-750TRS is a good unit and the output is very much the same as the 6000 (other than the 6000GLX). The differance is in depth (viewing area size is the same at 36"), the 750 is 16 1/4" and the 6000's are 21 1/2" deep. You gain a little more floor space with 750, and you still get your Ceramic Glass. The new TR version of the 750 offers a Clean Face conversion, and though they come standard with Acrylic Glass, you can also upgrade that to the Ceramic and add a Brick Kit to have a similar look as the TRS, just a little less heat (24,300 max BTU output vs. 30,000+ w/ 6000/750TRS)....See MoreGas fireplace hearth too hot?
Comments (1)As long as you are maintaining clearances by the manual, every thing should be fine. Wood combusts at a much higher temp then you hand can take. Its a radiator. Its going to be hot. If it gets to hot, it will shut down. So you can sleep ok at night. As far as pets, they have more instint then people give them, as far as kids, horseplay is how they get burnt. Put up a Kidco Child gate if your worried....See MoreHU-947251063170
