PPG Manor Hall or Benjamin Moore Regal Select
Comments (2)I have used both. Both are great. Manor Hall is certainly cheaper and I would use it on the walls over the BMoore simply due to price. On trim, I have found that Manor Hall takes quite a while to cure--sometimes three to four months(it wears like iron after this period, it is just a bit "soft" for a while). Regal does not seem to need this cure time. I think the Bmoore flows a bit better with a brush (9.7 out of 10 vs. 9.3 for the MH). But, the MH sprays a bit better for me. Both are very, very good paints....See MoreBenjamin Moore Regal Select
Comments (2)I haven't used Aura, but I have used both Regal and Regal Select in the past few months. The Regal Select is thicker--and so I prefer it. Fewer drips and less spattering with the roller! I think it does cost more, though....See MoreMatte (or flat) interior paint comparable to BM Regal Select
Comments (6)The price range on SW higher priced paints ( $60 to $70 range) is totally unjustified when one looks at the ratings by independent rating outfits such as Consumer Reports. Benjamin Moore also has high prices, but at least most of their products rate very well. What ever you do, compare "apples to apples". All manufacturers make multiple grades, very poor to very good. Ask at your paint dealer what exactly you are buying for that higher price. If your painter is supplying the paint, ask EXACTLY what line he intends to use, then call the paint store to see what he is using. It is penny wise and pound foolish to use less than top of the line paint in you home. If he is using cheap paints, it is to maximize HIS profits, not your long term performance. I say this as a 4 decade paint contractor who often had to bid against these low lifes. The lowest bid is not necessarily the best bid! Don't forget to ask for his insurance certificate for general liability and Workman's Comp....See MoreBenjamin Moore Regal Flat Finish and Regal Ulti-Matte??
Comments (2)Matte is washable, Flat is not. I use MATTE for hallways, and more high traffic areas. THe sheen is less than Eggshell and not very noticeable. For dining rooms, formal living rooms etc. Flat is fine....See More- 5 years ago
