Thanks for the comments and responses. Yes, I could add some other plants and the suggestions were good ones, but I'm still very content to not do anything. Maybe that notion will change with time, but so far the desire to do so hasn't hit me. rouge said: "Kevin, when you have time you could put in some variegated Polygonatum...." Actually, there is a planting of that on the other side of the azalea which you can't see in the photo. I divided and moved a bunch of that last fall and only kept a limited amount. I threw away buckets of that stuff, so it's going to be a few years before my patch is large enough to divide again. Dee - No, I'm not concerned about the carpenter ants. I had those years and years ago long before this garden was created and haven't had a problem since treating for them back then. As to the possible problems with the Podophyllum, I admit that will be an interesting situation to deal with. I did dig some a few years ago and found that it comes out of the ground very easily, with a garden fork. I don't think I'll try to dig it out however. What I'll probably do is just cut sections of it down early in the spring and keep at it if it re-sprouts. If a plant can't photosynthesize because the leaves and stems are gone, it will eventually die. I had that problem with wild, white violets at one point in time and that technique worked on them. Yeah cherry tomatoes are just insane by the end of the season(s) here or anywhere with two growing seasons. I am still concerned that this will not be enough but I like the idea of growing down from way up high at the edges of the Y, as long as they would not snap at the wire from weight.

In my experience, Rosemary bushes die in the winter here in Rhode Island. I have a bush in its second year in a 10 gallon pot next to a small window inside an unheated garage where it's doing well despite an unusually harsh winter. Because of the low temp it is barely growing. Thus it has kept its vigorous shape. Compare to bringing rosemary inside the house where the heat doesn't match the lack of sun -- and begins to look wimpy. My last outside overwintering rosemaries held out until the last month so my fingers are crossed (albeit with a confident carelessness). I hope my rosemary champion can make it through the last weeks because there's nothing quite like a well kept big, bushy Mediterranean rosemary bush during the height of summer. If this works I may try it again next year outside in the ground with its own cover, as it appears the freezing temps can be handled without humidity-leeching winds and battering precipitation.

The fixtures are in remarkable condition which lead's me to think they will not be difficult to disassemble. I take it you own and know your way around tools so here we go. First off since you are only having a little by-passing at diverter,let's only do it to see how things go. The worst that can happen unless you get crazy is you make the diverter worse but there's no flood and surly you can take tub baths for a few days without drowning. Set handle at mid way between tub and shower. Hold knob while removing screw. If handle doesn't slide off with a little pulling and wiggling,pull while tapping with metal object from behind. After handle stem cover are removed you will likly see one small plus one large place for a wrench. Don't mess with small nut,that's to adjust packing in case water leaks around stem. Use a box end wrench or deep socket (6 point preferred but certainly not nessary)to remove stem. O-rings and washer are self explainitory but seat that remains in fixture can be tricky to remove and difficult to find replacement for. If you don't see shinny scratches on seat you might get by without replacment. The seat will have either square or hex hole in center. Seat wrenches are inexpensive but if you are carful,seat can be removed with ever day tools. Allen wrench for hex and an old manual operated wood drill bit for square. Just make sure it fit's and keep it straight or you risk damage to new soft brass seat while installing. While stem is out,lub stem where it go's through packing plus course threads that pull and push stem when handle is turned. If that go's well you can put new washers in hot and cold before they start dripping ( don't forget to adjustmid-way open and closed while removing and reinstalling). Good luck
