How To Care For "Mother-In-Law's" Tongue?

Hello,

I have questions about how to care for my "mother in-law's tongue" since it doesn't seem to be really growing and is falling over (I put in a stick in the pot to try and hold it up). I bought this plant probably 5 years ago and probably water it every month or so. I also have never fertilized it that I can remember.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to care for my plant? I live in the Atlanta area if that helps with weather (humidity, etc). For example, how often and how much water should I add (please don't say when the soil is dry to the touch)? I'm looking for a general rule of thumb for my plant to know if I'm watering it too often, or with too much water, etc. Should I fertilize it? Should I change the soil (I would rather not if possible).

Thanks in advance!
