How to Get an Orange Stain out of Armstrong Luxury Vinyl flooring
Comments (1)Not knowing what caused it, I'd make a paste of baking soda and water, let it sit on the stain, then gently scrub at it. Good luck. I have a couple of "mystery" stains on my linoleum kitchen floor, will have a go at them today. I came down this morning to find my daughter had spilled some spaghetti sauce in front of the refrigerator. Part grease, part tomato (acid). I quickly picked it up with a paper towel, then a quick run over with my Swiffer WetJet....See MoreWhy are all the new great appliances available only in Europe?
Comments (16)drrust - while I'm sure liability is kicked around on a new product before rollout I seriously doubt it plays any significant roll in the decision. It all boils down to "how many can I sell and at what price". All of those firms mentioned have U.S. operations and insurance for appliance sales and distribution. The products generally lusted for but not here are real niche models that have a high price tag and little prospect for large sales numbers. If it's any consolation I'm sure there are a few Europeans that are pining for a Kenmore Freestanding Side x Side fridge that is 32" deep and a JennAir downdraft with a BBQ grill....See MoreCleaning Armstrong Alterna Floor
Comments (7)I am in sales at a flooring store and always provide the following information to my customers: Please don't use vinegar! It can take the finish off of your floor in time, as it is an acidic product. Bleach is also not good for residential floors. And both of these products can discolor the grout. Mr. Clean, dish soap, and such like are not a good idea either, (although they smell good:) They create a buildup after a while, which can make your floor feel somewhat sticky and it may seem like your flooring isn't cleaning as well. Armstrong has a no-rinse cleaner called Once 'n' Done which is a concentrate that you add to your bucket of water. They also have a product called New Beginning which you can use to strip your floor of any buildup it may have on it. If you like a bit of a sheen, or want your floor really shiny, they also have products for both. For a textured floor, try using a Vileda mop like the attached photo. They are a bit thicker, so it's easier to get into the grooves/pits of your floor. In regards to steam mops, you will likely void your flooring warranty in using them. If you need to use the steam mop, a cold steam would be better than hot. We have heard/seen of floors where the floor surface separated from the bottom or the floor changed color with using a hot steam mop. There is nothing wrong with washing your floor with just plain water either! Good Luck!...See Morearmstrong marmorette floors??
Comments (21)Cleaning is so easy. Lino has anti-static properties, which means pet hair seems to just fly off it into the dustpan. I've had light vinyl floors that just never looked clean even after hands-and-knees scrubbing, but sweep/vacuum/occasional vinegar-and-water mop keeps my kitchen floor in great shape. We used the suggested "sealer" when the floor was installed, took off the sealer with the Forbo cleaning product 1.5 years later, reapplied sealer...and did that process all over again at the year 3 point. The above is a bit of a PITA, but I take a few hours of PITA on occasion over weekly heavy-duty cleaning! Jerzeegirl, love that floor with your choices. Amsunshine, thanks so much for sharing your photos! Both choices look great in their respective settings, and I love that you all either worked with your existing fixture or did an amazing job sourcing repro ones. [Alas we have nothing so pretty in our 1905 baths...the worst of the 70s/80s, I think.] The Aurora Hour is such a beauty; your pics are really making me waver (we've yet to BUY the Concrete, after all). I do think it might be a bit too much for our room, but-but-but...ha. I prob need to stay strong and remember we still have an upstairs bath that will likely get a lino floor!...See MoreJeanie Lee
