Comments (3)I hope you have not purchased DuraCeramic. I had it installed 7 yrs ago in my kitchen and foyer and it looks like absolute crap!!!! I have so many chips and scratches in the floor that it looks dirty all the time. I've had people from the company out and 3rd party companies come out and Congoleum has not responded. I've sent emails to them and they don't respond to that either. I'm currently looking to replace my kitchen/foyer floor because it disgusts and frustrates me to look at it. I have a piece of Alterna from Armstrong sitting in my kitchen currently to "test" it out. A local company gave me a sample to try out for the weekend. I laid it down last night and already this morning I managed to chip it. I dropped a piece of silverware on it and it chipped the tile. Exactly what happens to the Duraceramic. We are a family of four and I have 2 cats, I would not say we are overly abusive to our floors. Pretty average usage. I will continue my search for the "best" flooring. Good luck to you in your search for flooring. I've attached a picture of my flooring to show how badly it is chipped. I understand I use white and black tiles and they are not as forgiving but, I find this ridiculous....See MoreArmstrong Alterna
Comments (3)We are in the process of a kitchen remodel and will be having the Alterna tile installed. I will post back in several weeks and tell you how it went. We loved what we saw in the flooring store, and our KD was familiar with the product from feedback his clients gave. The installation is different from other tile. Instructions on Armstrong's website go over all the specifications so you can read them in advance of purchase. We're told it's a little more difficult to install, a breeze to maintain, cleans up easily with Once and Done floor cleaner and that it looks beautiful. We saw some installed and were amazed how much it looks like stone tile. Bring samples home to see how the styles and colors look in your environment at various times of the day. The fact that it's groutable and easier on the feet really cinched it for us. You can google Alterna for better pricing. Have fun with your choices. Send me a message if you have specific questions....See MoreArmstrong Vinyl Lockhaven flooring in basement?
Comments (0)Hello! We are taking up the carpeting in our basement (yuck) with the intention of scraping the carpet glue off the cement, sealing it (with the kind that permeates the cement to stop water and vapors) and installing some sort of synthetic wood planking above it. We DO have a little moisture problem, I am severely allergic to mold so when everything is cleaned off and the floor is installed the #1 priority is making sure no mold or mildew will grow on the flooring... We are leaning toward a vinyl plank floor above a laminate since there is no organic portion of it that can grow mold...the Armstrong vinyl is the kind that stick to itself with sticky tabs instead of sticking to the floor at all. We have found a vinyl plank that has tiny tongue and grooves and don't know which would be best! Basically I'm just looking for any advice/experience with these flooring products, sealing concrete, vapor barriers, cleaning mold/adhesive etc. This is a big project for us and it's really important we get it right!...See Morecullenwr
