And why does the subject have to be at least 15 characters? I wanted to title a thread "Beautiful bird". Not enough characters????? Geez. I'm a woman of few words.

I’m not seeing a 15-character minimum for the “Subject” field, just the usual 70-character max. That’s one of your problems, right? I think I did a pretty good job of deciphering your gobbledygook. ;)

Sammy, did you try to post it? I would get the 15 character error when I did. Mamapinky also had the problem with disappearing words.

I did not try to post it, but I will go do that right now on the test forum! Oh, and how are you accessing Houzz/GW, via the web or the Houzz app? That might have something to do with it.

Sammy, I'm on my phone. To this point I have resisted getting on the computer. When I first got this new update last week i got on the computer and it was just awful. lol On my phone, i dont see a lot of the garbage.

Yet, you had to stop and make a snarky comment instead of SOB. That is a "problem" for me.

Some of us want to see if others are experiencing the same issues we are having with the board. And, may have suggestions on how to resolve them.

Nicole, are you seeing no change or no change to complain about? Some are having no probs with the changes but many are. Try starting a new thread of you own. You have to actually post it to see if there's a problem. (See OP)

This is the first thread I've started in 10 days because they're basically unreadable.

I haven't tried starting a thread yet, but I will. Meanwhile, every time I click on someone's thread it opens a new tab. So we can no longer click the back arrow to return to the main screen; we have to X out of the new tab. I didn't, and I now have five Houzz tabs on my screen.

I don’t have any problem reading the responses to new threads. It’s the home page for the forums that drives me crazy.

This redesigned upgrade, or whatever they are calling it, is worthless, IMNSHO!!!!

Me too, OP! There's a lot of scrolling to do just to find a forum.

I just got on the computer and it's a lot easier to scroll through the topics page looking for a certain forum. On the phone, the forums are listed straight up and down... loooong way to scroll... and they aren't listed alphabetically so you don't know where to look other than go through the whole list of forums.

No problems here. The only change is on the page that lists topics. Easy to post. Nice separate box for starting new threads.

Moonie....I don't see anything different other than a side bar of "who's posting a lot"...black & white headings.....I don't "see" anything upsetting or radical....? I'm not understanding what ya all are seeing.....? and.....I don't usually start threads......or don't go to "other" forums. It's looked like this for about a week now...right? I'm not sure what's upsetting everyone.

Nicole, obviously you aren't experiencing any problems. That's good but many of us are. Just read the postings. Did you read my original post on this thread? I spent a long time yesterday trying to share my experiences with the new baby birds coming to the feeders. I kept making corrections when words and letters were being deleted. I really worked at trying to post because I so enjoyed the birds. Then, my whole post just went blank before I could even post it.

Also I'm seeing first and last names of some forum members. I really don't think they are meaning to have that public. I emailed Houzz but apparently they arent concerned about security.

As far as the format, that's not a problem for me. I have had 10 days to get used to it. Most people are only experiencing the changes as of today.

DH is a techie and he said the 15 character requirement is for search engine optimization. Search engines look at longer titles so Houzz wants you to use as many key words as possible. That drives traffic to the site and increases their revenue.

Moonie, on the profile it says that first and last name will be publicly displayed, so maybe Houzz assumes those members are okay with it. Everyone should check their settings though and make changes if they want to, though, so thank you for bringing it up.

I think it was yesterday or day before Moonie was seeing peoples names and they definitely didn't wsnt their names out there.

I don't believe that our community fits with the Houzz vision. We probably are expendable because we don't generate revenue.

I know that others felt that the forum that I moderate is too right
wing and maybe it used to be, but really all opinions are welcome and
it's a pretty inactive forum. Only 3-4 active posters but it's already
set up. Everyone here is welcome to join and I'll do my best to grant
access asap (keeping in mind that I do work weekends).

Moonie, I started a thread to test it and got that too. My fix was to just add a bunch of .... after my wording and it worked.

This is insane.I started a two-word thread on Hot Topics and I had to make it 15 characters when I didn't want to. Where is the back arrow? Is that so difficult? I have to open a new page every time and have a bunch of KT tabs across the top.
