Comments (40)Here is another version we considered....now I am thinking that this is a much more functional layout for the kitchen. My concern was the dining area bump out....sometimes I have been in homes with this design (breakfast nook, etc) and it is a pain to get to the back in because the area is too small for the table, etc. Since this is our only dining table, do I make the bump out larger? Take in some kitchen and make it a little more of a "room"? I hate the claustrophobic feeling -- maybe why I have some many JJ baths! Kidding, I actually will be changing some of those but want to just focus on the kitchen part. Other concern was that huge island! But remember we are a family of 5 and on any given day I have extra kids lately. I would like to change to L seating as that is my preference. On one of LL's versions, she added in a hutch and I am really thinking we need something like that. Bonus points for fitting that in! Thanks again. Sorry for the poor photo - just making do right now....See MoreCalling Emily H from Houzz
Comments (63)Hi there, For those of you that are able to reach the discussions in the old format, stay logged in. If you are not able to stay logged in, check your browser settings to make sure you allow cookies from GardenWeb and Houzz. That is how you are identified as an existing user, so you are not introduced to the standard format that is on Houzz and instead access the site how it was most recently on GardenWeb. New visitors that find Houzz through google are shown the new format. That is why some of you are being redirected to that layout. Users that participate either through the older GardenWeb format or through Houzz have access to the same content, so there should be no disruption to bringing in "new blood" to keep the forums alive. The only difference will be that new people will be using the new discussion format to post and read. When you post on Houzz using the new format, you have the ability to cross post your discussion in up to three topics. This should do a couple things. First, your discussion will get it in front of more relevant people that may be able to help you. Second, there is no longer a need to post the same discussion in multiple forums and have the conversation scattered across them. You don't have to cross post it at all, however. You can post to just one topic. As this is relatively new, and people are getting used to it, it is possible that some things may end up in the wrong forums where they are not relevant. When that happens, flag them and we are happy to take a look and make adjustments to that discussion....See MoreWhere Did All the Posts Go???
Comments (22)Wonderful! Coming back tonight things look back to normal. I hope it looks that way for everyone. I'm glad some people know who to contact to get things fixed. At least we know it wasn't an intentional change. What a relief. This is a really great forum for lots of reasons, information being one of them, and I hope we all have it for a long time! I learn so much here, mostly in gardening, but I like the home side of it, too. Phew! It feels good to know GW/Houzz is still here and intact....See MoreHey Emily, about Houzz and posting photos
Comments (23)I’m also frustrated when I click on a photo in the post, once finished it bounces me back to the beginning of the thread. It should leave you right at the photo in the post. This is extremely problematic for longer threads. I also still wish you’d cap posts once they hit a limit. Thousands in one post is ridiculous. People can start a new one with same old title and add a 2. Old thread can be linked to if still relevant. Everything doesn’t load at once in the long threads and then there’s that picture issue I mentioned above. If people want to chit chat, which is what many of them turn into, it would be nice if they used email or another method instead of pushing down other threads....See Moremoonie_57 (8 NC)
