Need help designing my Living Room
Comments (2)Awkward space. But with some tweaking... Okay. Get rid of the entertainment center. Mount a flat screen TV over the fireplace, which I usually don't care for, but you can conceal it. Or put TV in another room. Put sofa on wall opposite fireplace. Move the patterned chair towards the center of the room, to the left of the sofa in its new spot as you are sitting in it, so you can comfortably watch the TV over the fireplace. Get rid of white chair. Too harsh a contrast with sofa and patterned chair and rug, not enough space. Maybe get a small bamboo chair or two, something light in visual weight and easy to move, for extra seating. I like the rug; I want one just like that for my family room but the contemporary style and colors are not working at all in your space, especially with the patterned chair. The only piece it works with is the brown leather sofa. You need something much more traditional in style. Do you want more colors, or are you happy with the brown tones?...See MoreI need help designing my living and dining room!
Comments (12)@decoenthusiaste OMG! the first one speaks to me! I love the contrats and choice of color! Do you think a cream colored 3 seater is a good option, or a grey-ish color? I am torn between making sure everything matches in a harmonious way, but I also want to add a hint of brightness or color to the room. What do you think?...See MoreI need help designing my living room
Comments (1)Add them to a comment before you do that get some ideas into your idea books , what I think is funky might be very different from what you think it is. We need more info as to how many seats you need, is there a TV any info that might have an effect on the design....See MoreHelp!! Just moved and need help designing my living room!!
Comments (4)Giavanna, I think your best best is to first settle on a look you're going for. Go through Houzz photos (do a search on Open concept living rooms) and create an ideabook of things you like. Do you like modern styles? Traditional styles? It looks like you have kids, so family friendly will likely be important. I think we need a bit more to go on before we can give you good advice....See MoreSusan Davis
