Ideas for entry way..

I'm not sure what to do with this entry way wall...I know an art, or collage would be an option...but I would love to know if you can add anymore to that... I dont wish to have an entry way table at the moment, coz I have an active toddler who loves to run around... if I were to go with a collage..how big should it be. Also, I have a collage next to the staircase..(please see photos), and I don't want to have too many collages in the same area.. or do u think it will be okay?

Nice entry way! I'd definitely do a narrow entry type table/dresser (with drawers) so you can drop your keys, purse, lunchbox, etc. Just because you have a toddler shouldn't stop you from furnishing that area. Then, a big mirror above (for a last minute peek before you head out the door)! And I'd say, 2 lamps to flank (so pretty). Toddlers do just fine with furniture and they will eventually move on to other spaces in the house. Love your floors and door!

I think you should keep what you have on the wall and add a beautiful runner to the floor. Done!

I was told that it was a direct match to one David Ruston grew, in Australia. But don't "lose" that name! "Castro-Breen Red Cl" tells you where this clone came from . . . It was -- the remains of the plant were -- directly between my feet, at the Castro-Breen Adobe in the San Juan Bautista State Historic Park. It was that small! Hi, the door on the right leads to an entrance way for our tenant upstairs, so that is off limits and the door to the left leads downstairs to the basement which is for the downstairs rental unit. What is shown in the picture is literally the only space I’m working with, unfortunately, which has been a challenge! Just looking for ideas what I can put on that wall.

Not much room for anything, but some art on the wall. I would have suggested a runner, but it looks like both doors open towards the hallway and might not be able to clear a rug. Myself, I would paint everything under the chair rail in the same trim color. Not everything has to be decorated.

I really like what you have on the wall. Pretty and unique. I like njmomma's suggestion to door mat rug to a runner.

You certainly could add a narrow console table, but I don't think it's necessary.

You could add plants on either side of the door if you like.

Adding a table or other accent pieces will add some personality to the space. This is the first thing people see when they enter your home so keep that in mind when picking out pieces. Enjoy!

With your high ceiling, hang the art grouping vertically with the bottom piece 5" above a slim console table. Once you have the table you can tape out a "rug" to get the size right, leaving the legs of the table off of it.

How long should the runner rug be? Do u keep it like i have the door mat right now or vertically towards the inside of the house?

I like the runner how you have it since you have such beautiful floors. You want to protect them from sand/grit/asphalt on the bottom of shoes and feet from scratching your floors.... But maybe get a 'deeper' one though. I have a similar hardwood, and have a rug that is thin (so the door can open) and it. has rubber grip at the bottom, so it stays put and the rug doesn't move when you walk on it...

A carpet store will cut and bind a broadloom to any size. If they sell remnants of high end broadloom you may find a great price on a very attractive piece. Then you add a non-slip pad.

I agree that a slender console would work well in your entry. You could still do an eclectic art piece above your console whether it's a collage, canvas, metal piece, etc. The piece below would work well.Good luck!

Your hall is probably too narrow for a table to be practical … even if a table would fit, it would be a toe stub hazard

Would change the rug.

If you cannot find a long runner you like … or until you do … to protect your floor and not have your rug look like an afterthought, get a mat that is wide enough to fit all the way from side wall to side wall. Brown w/tan or black w/gray either one would work.

Check your local big box store for one of those rugs that has the sloped plastic edging that will not catch a toe and definitely choose one that has a no-skid back.

Great idea. Yes, I don't think a table is practical. And I don't want any more furniture... will look out for those colors on rugs/mats. Thanks again.

If I had this area, I think I'd go with a very narrow table -- just wide enough to hold an accent lamp. And I'd attach it to the wall. I'd go with a table (rather than an equally-useful shelf) because I think a toddler would be more likely to see the shelf as something to grab /climb /pull up upon. With a toddler in mind, too, I'd avoid glass-top tables. Definitely a nice rug/runner to bring in some color.
