You want her to have more fiber! Get some All Bran or Bran Flakes Breakfast Cereal - lots of fiber. Mix it in with her food. This is only for a few days so don't worry about sugar or other junk.

Yes, I've used it upon the advice of our holistic dog nutritionist. Since my dog has colitis, it didn't work but normally it does slow down the digestive tract.

Cooked white rice worked for my dog when he had diarrhea. I did add pumpkin to it, but I also give him just rice and yogurt and it seems to really bind up the stools.

kcandmillo, tried it but she spits it out, very picky eater. if she sniffs boiled rice in her food she won't eat it even if she's hungry. she likes if its is bake the rice until its kind of crunchy. I need fiber ideas

Have you tried canned foods that have added pumpkin in it?

One of my dogs won't eat pumpkin puree unless I 'conceal' it well in her food, so I'll usually do something like make her a stew she likes and just mix it in. Instant pot is great for making quick dog stews

I can think of little more bland than boiled rice and boiled chicken.

Indeed, many MDs put their humans on it for this very reason. In and of itself it is not a cure - just makes sure the GI is not irritated due to the diet.

I just keep a couple of cans of the appropriate Hill's on hand for emergency purposes. Actually he is now 14 and we haven't had to use any of the cans for their intended purpose - just made sure to always have them after he had a bout with a form of dog flu when he was 1.5 years of age and was sent home with the cans. We donate cans as they approach their expiry date - unless he is scheduled for a dental and then he uses them. But so far no "cannon butt" - although at 14 I am beginning to worry. Taste wise he loves the stuff, but then he loves everything.

I gave her All Bran buds about a tablespoon, she liked it, she also liked bran flakes but it was not All Bran brand just a supermarket brand .i noticed that the All Bran Buds has psyllium in it and that was one of the things the vet said I could try so I think I will stick to the All Brand Buds, I don't know how much to give her or how much she can tolerate so I think I will just stick to about a tablespoon with her chicken, no rice she won't eat the chicken if it has rice in it "Picky". how much bran do you give your dog?

Don't know the size of the pups, but I would feed about 15% All Bran by volume.

Replace 15% of the kibble with the All Bran. Let's say my pup was getting one cup in the AM and PM. What I would do is fill the cup up 80-85% with kibble and then top off the cup with All Bran. Add some water to the bowl, something I do anyway.That way you can adjust as the days go on.

If you calculate the total calories, it'll likely end up being about the same calories as before. You do not want your pup to lose weight nor become dehydrated.

Please let us know how your efforts work out. If things don't improve in a few days I'd sure be back in contact with the Vet.

she's eating now I think we were giving her too many treats. she improving slowly with the colitis she is also on prednisone. she is #77 vet said she could put a little more weight on. in contact with the vet every 2-3 days
