Should I out doors on this cabinet or leave open?
Comments (10)bmh- I think the (no) door decision would depend on whether or not you liked to see that much of your servingware on display at all times. Some people have colorful majolica or Fiestaware that becomes part of their decor, and is used on a regular, if not daily basis. As to your question about the glass cabs... I personally would carry the glass up to the top for visual continuity if you were going to do glass in the midlevel cabs. Our kitchen has regular doors at shoulder level, with seeded glass top cabs- I chose that configuration because I've had clear glass cabs before that ended up not being very useful to me because of our lifestyle at the time. I used more tupperware and Tervis with teenagers than I used my pretty pewter trays and Mexican pottery, so I put all glass up high in "dead" space in this house... because, I still think it's beautiful and wanted a little touch of it....See MoreShould I leave the doors open or closed? Comments (6)"Do you recommend that we keep the bedroom doors closed overnight to keep the cool air contained in the bedrooms? I notice that when I close the doors, air blows through the gap at the bottom of the doors. Why does that happen and is it blowing the cooled air into the hot areas of the house? On a similar note, is it recommended that we keep the bedroom doors closed during the early evening so that the cooled air in the living room doesn't "leak" into the warm bedrooms?" -- When you put air into a room, it will find it's way out (to the return side of the system). Do you have return grills (that suck air in) in each bedroom, or one central return? If not, then I would probably leave the doors cracked at least (which is what I do, and I have a central return--I too can feel the air coming through beneath the gap, which is there for a reason to let air travel). I'm not really sure on this question; I was hoping someone else who is an airflow expert can chime in here. "Furthermore, does it make sense to allow the house to come up to 81 degrees during the day, only to cool it back down to 76 in the evenings/overnight? I don't know whether we're using more energy to cool it 5 degrees every night than if we left it at 79 during the day." -- Do you happen to know how long the system takes to the space down 5 degrees? 79-80 may be a better option. I don't like high setbacks, but 5 degrees may not be too bad depending on your system's ability. If you have smart thermostats (do you know what kind of thermostats you have?), they can recover prior to your return so that the temperature is AT 76 degrees when you return....See MoreCan you open your newer TL while it's running?
Comments (8)How's it goin' jcrowley? Glad to hear your Cabrio is performing well for you! :o) My grandmother has the Maytag Bravos washer also w/ glass lid so one can look inside the machine while in operation. It's pretty much the same machine as jcrowley99's Whirlpool Cabrio, but with the Maytag name on it. It also has the impeller at the bottom of the tub as opposed to an agitator and she says when she wants to open the lid, she presses the pause button and the lid unlocks immediately so she can access the inside of the tub for whatever reason she may need to (as jcrowley99 also mentions). I should also mention that I have heard very good things about the GE Harmony, also another agitatorless washer with a glass lid. My grandmother's previous Kenmore TL lid could be opened during the wash/deep rinse portion of the cycle and would still agitate. My aunt's Maytag, however, is the opposite, same as your MIL's. Oh.......by the way.......my grandmother loves her Bravos. But as you'll see by the reviews of the Bravos with the link I provided, these washers seem to be a love it or hate it type of appliance. HTH. Keep us posted and best of luck with whatever washer you end up choosing!! :o) Kevin Here is a link that might be useful: Maytag Bravos at Home Depot...See Morewhat do you keep in your linen closet...& how do you organize it?
Comments (31)You could actually do a couple different things. You could have one rod and use hangers. You would have to fold them a bit to fit on the hanger and not drag on the floor, but that's usually how they come from the cleaners. For heavy cloths, use two hangers together for added strength. You could also hang multiple rods at slightly different heights and depths. If you have a walk in closet this works great, but will still work with a reach in. Hang the highest rod the farthest back, then one a bit lower and closer and even a third lower and closer than the second. Then you can hang the cloths right on the rod instead of on a hanger. I like the rod because of it's larger diameter it doesn't leave creases in the cloths. You can also overlap them on these rods. For optimum use of space, you'd need to use multiple rods and overlap. Is that totally confusing?!...See Moremisscasagrande
