Can anyone please i.d. what is wrong with my Pieris japonica plants?

I have three Pieris japonica "Passion" plants that were planted last summer. I'm in zone 6, NJ. All three looked good last summer in a mostly shady area, on the cusp of a small slope, properly spaced. Now 2 of the 3 look unhealthy- droopy limbs, mottled branches, leaves are yellowed, and there seems to be tiny brown bumps/dots on the branches. Earlier in the spring I amended the soil with some peat, and used an acid fertilizer. The one plant in the middle looks pretty good though I did see some white larvae on a few leaves. I treated all three with a natural insecticidal spray today, but I'm not sure if it is for sure an insect issue as I did not see larvae or insects on the other two plants which look very bad. I would appreciate any input or advice how to save them, if possible! Thank you!

this one has many dead branches which I cut away, but it somehow did still flower.

this is the other one that is very droopy.

this one is in the middle of the two and has good form, leaves, but notice the larvae, and some spotting leaves.
