A 9' Christmas tree is tall. Very, very tall.
Comments (6)Lucky you, callaloo, to have the stairs to aid in your decorating. I find the ladder work a little treacherous on our 9 1/2 foot tree, but it looks really nice in our vaulted space. We bought it out of necessity a few years ago after we limped through the final Christmas with our 20+ year old 6 footer... DH called me when I was out shopping and said don't ask any questions but stop at a hardware store before I come home and bring him a sandbag. Huh? I did so, and found the sad remains of our old tree when I got home. Each year it seemed that tree looked more sparce so we fluffed more branches in front and left the bare patch against the wall. Apparently that thing was so bare on the back that it should've been hanging on the wall! Turns out DH and our 2 youngest children had been putting on ornaments when it just toppled over, burying the kids underneath. Hubby thought they had been knocked out because there was utter silence, but it turned out they were so terrified they didn't even know how to react. I lost a few of my favorite ornaments that year, and yes, we hid the sandbag under the treeskirt and DH tied the upper part of the tree to a hook in a wall stud. AH, Christmas memories! Did I mention I really like our new tree? :)...See MoreVery tall wall in a small living room
Comments (38)I have a tall wall (10ft) that was 22 ft wide and very boring! You could tile the wall to the ceiling, where your TV and fireplace are, and make that a focal wall. My living room is also small.(12' x 22') I added switch on the side for potlights/dimmer. Here's pics of mine....It definitely catches all eyes, and I always get compliments. Also, I'd like to add, I have many mirrors and NONE reflect my ceiling, (as another poster commented) except for my mirrored coffee table! Mirrors on walls always create illusion of larger space!...See More14 Feet Ceiling, How tall should I hang my curtain?
Comments (9)We need more info. What room is this, do you need privacy, will this drapes every be opened or closed? If you think they will every be opened or closed all they way to the ceiling will make it very hard for that to be done. I have 10 ft tall curtains that get closed a few times a year. My reach is 7 1/2 ft and it is difficult to slide the drapes. If they are only for looks, but them all the way to the ceiling....See MoreHelp with kitchen cabinet design with very tall vaulted ceilings!
Comments (15)@cpartist Thanks! Also thank you for the comment about the dining area. It will be tight, but thinking 22 inches for the built-in bench with a 36-inch table that overhangs the built-in bench by 5 inches. So that is a grand total of 53 inches and the whole width of the space is 89 inches - that leaves 36 inches for the opposite side of table. When chairs are in use, yes - there won't really be a walking space behind them. Maybe I could make the eating bar 24" wide rather than the current 28 inches wide to help?...See Moreotto15
