We were home before the weekend. Our trip plans were made several months before the wedding announcement. To be honest, I think we were lucky with the timing we had. Had I known of the wedding related events before our dates were set, I would have tried to schedule it differently to not be there on those days and to avoid the days immediately before. Maybe by reversing our itinerary.

We try to avoid peak tourist times, the mobs who come to popular cities and other places from late May through the summer make things harder and inconvenient. April-May is a good time, the weather is warming and there's less rain than in the preceding months. After Labor Day through the mid-fall is also a good time to visit Europe for the same reason, we were there last September as well.

We're not big on picture taking. Other than photos when visiting friends, we took no photos of most of the places we went to this trip because most we'd been to before. That's a plus, not a minus, we both love Europe and just being there and retracing/revisiting any of many past steps we've taken is special. Of course we try to only revisit places we like but that's a long list. So I really don't have anything suitable to share.

Glad you're home and had a wonderful time. I agree with your timing of your visits. We were in Berlin end of April. The weather was great and the tourists were minimal.

I've been to Berlin a number of times, always enjoy it. I was first there in the late 70s, when the Wall and Checkpoint Charlie was operating, symbols of the Cold War. At that time, East Berlin was impoverished and still in shambles with unrepaired war damage everywhere. It's a city of contrasts, art and beauty vs the ugly history of what happened not that long ago.

I think you have a kid living there, sleeper? Good excuse to visit regularly.
