Laminate floor in kitchen
Comments (5)I had laminate in my previous kitchen. It was Pergo installed about 12 years ago. The only thing I didn't like about it was the way it showed water spots. Any splashes that went unnoticed and dried would leave a ring. These weren't permanent marks. They disappeared when I damp mopped the floor. It just seemed like I was mopping constantly, either to prevent the rings or to remove them. For that reason, I never considered it for my bathrooms. I imagine that laminates have come a long way in the last 10 or 12 years, so it may not be as much of a problem now. As far as durability, I couldn't have been happier. The kids roller bladed on it and everything and there was no problem except for some surface scratching that only showed up in direct sunlight. Comments (12)Ok...so engineered hardwood is an option because this is "ground level" and not below grade. If you do not want to heavily invest in the home's flooring (and after a big renovation you feel the pinch at every turn...I get that), then an excellent water resistant laminate (I hardly need to add "out of Europe"...) will give you an amazing floor for 15-20 years without much effort. Work with something out of Switzerland or Germany and you will be ASTOUNDED by the toughness and the handsomeness of the product. Quick....do it be Brexit! While all the tariffs are still "Zero"! I like water proof/water resistant laminates because you are in IRELAND...it rains there from time to time. Sometimes water comes in on your Wellies...and that just isn't good for regular laminate or wood. As water resistant as you can please. It will pay itself back 10 fold by the time you finish your second winter with your flooring....See MoreReplacing wood flooring. Should I choose laminate or hard wood?
Comments (21)If you want something that is waterproof, they do make AquaGuard or NuCore laminate flooring that is made with recycled rubber. You could also go with a wood look tile option. But you could never really go wrong with a hardwood floor to increase the value of your home. Just throwing a few options into the ring. Comments (9)What ??? If I understand tile is on the main floor and this questio is for the seconf floor where the bedrooms are.I think it will depend on the color of the tile on the lower floor as you will be having the 2 floors meet at the bottom of the stairs. Some pictures would be abig help BTW. Maybe look a vinyl plank and do the stirs in a tile to match the lower floor I awys thin stairs look best done to match the lower level and then the floor cange change at the top of the stairs. We need pictures of the furniture too....See Moreworthy
