It is very hard to see your beautiful home with the landscaping so overgrown. If you trim up the landscaping so we can see what you have, I think it will help a great deal. You have a beautiful home. It just needs a little bit of TLC at the moment.

ETA: Do you need the storm doors? They aren't helping your exterior appeal.

Do you plan on painting only, or do you have the budget for other items?
Please trust me, first start with a plan and I mean a plan for the WHOLE exterior. Even if the budget doesn’t allow for all the changes you want, you still need a plan in place. If you just start willy-nilly it, It will only cost you more money in the end.
1. The landscaping needs help even if you’re not ready to change it you can at least start by cutting everything back and looking at a clean slate.
2. Next decide what kind of style your house is, Or what kind of style do you want to be?
A) Will the roof stay or go?
B) Will you be painting the brick white?
C ) Will you be painting or changing out the door?
A nice shade of brown or black, Or even a beautiful pop of color, This will come to you when you really identify the style and period of your home.
I know this is more questions than answers but trust me good design takes work and doesn’t just happen by picking one color, and not looking at the whole plan. I mean you could do that and perhaps get lucky or you can be like me and do that and realize that you have to start from the beginning and change everything that you paid for last year because it doesn’t go with your next step in the following year

I would think about painting all the white space around the windows a color that matches the roof color. Then paint the window trim white. What is that white space next to the front doors - shutters? I'd remove them. Maybe a medium blue/confederate blue for the front door,

Thank you everyone for those comments! Those ARE shutters by the front doors... I don’t know what to replace them with if I yank them out.

I think I’m going to take everyone’s advice about the storm doors (replace them), and obviously work on the landscaping. Beyond that, it looks like I have a lot of meditating to do about what to do next.

Paint those white areas (on upper) the same color as roof, so they don`t stand out.

Oh, didn't realize about the door shutters. You could do the same greige as the trim paint so the dark purple doors stand out. Good luck!

Hey, look at this grey metal roof; I’m in love! Could be the start of a plan and then ugly no more! I literally cut out Starbucks, mani and pedicures, and clothes shopping To get what I needed and it worked! Just saying it could happen!

I agree with the suggestions to paint the areas around the windows a taupe (tan/gray) to tone them down. The white is so stark that it immediately draws your eye to the second floor. I'm going to respectfully disagree with Tina, I don't think a metal roof is appropriate for your home. In my community a number of people have put metal roofs on ranch style homes. If you're a farmhouse, coastal, etc. then the metal roofs look good, but they're not for every style home.

If you're going to keep storm doors then I would do a full glass style and paint your front doors for a pop of color.

I wouldn't spend money to stain the front steps. Get a power washer and give them and the sidewalk a good cleaning.

You remove the shutters and replace them with nothing.

Darken the area around the windows and maybe the fascia boards too. I would look at an off-white or bone color for your window trim.

Please remove the door shutters, you don't need to replace them with anything at all. If they are removed, the doorway looks to be the same width as the area directly above on the 2nd storey, so it will look even better.

Hire an arborist to prune your trees, don't hack at them, get a pro if they are staying.

Is that an attached garage, can you add another photo looking up the driveway?

After reviewing your pic again, the front door looks like the residence is a side-by-side condos, with 2 front doors - one for the right side unit, one for the left.

No, my home isn’t a side by side condo... it’s a single family home. On every single street nearby in my town, there’s a home that looks like this. Some have gray roofs. They all have shutters, mostly all black. As they say, “cookie-cutter homes”!

How did you do that! I want to be able to do that with my stuff! I would like to see my room laid out in a picture before I actually move everything around physically and then have to move it again LOL. What type of download is that, or is it an expensive program?..

Tina - I use basic Microsoft Paint. However, I know that there are great apps out there. I believe Groveraxle uses Photoshop.
